My first visit ...I missed, I couldn't locate the place . I Arrived on location (Plein 9), all I can see is restaurants and terraces…OMG…I have no phone numbers with me (My fault). I continue to walk around, trying to locate the entrance…no where to be found. I start to ask, I asked a few waitress (even at number 11 and number 6) they just didn’t knew. So, at 12h30 I decided to look in other streets, perhaps the website made a mistake and it’s in another street, or the spa is just closed (I’ve seen that a lot in Canada, you pay you book and they vanishes with your money). By then it was pooring rain, like I was considering building an Ark (Almost).
I decided to return home, I was all wet and not happy. I got home and not even 5 minutes later, my phone rang, it was Vanessa (the owner of Phann Beauty), asking me where I was and what happened? I just told her the whole story, she offered to take me that day, and I declined, I was simply too tired. Then, my husband convince me to give it another try. That weekend, we went for a walk and he help me locate the building (Plein 9), Same location that I had found before…but when you actually get on the terrace of the restaurant, you can see a door in between 2 other entrance. With a small sign on it, you have to get inside and press the button (then she will open the door, it’s on the third level).
So, I did book again...now it's time for My first real appointment , I was a bit remorseful and ashamed that I was not able to find the place at first. Now I think it’s pretty easy to find…now that I know the exact location! I got there 15 minutes before my due time. Vanessa came downstairs to open the door and told me that I was too early (thinking to myself, better a bit early then no show at all). She said that she doesn’t have a waiting room, her services are ofered on a individual basis, she is dedicated to give every client a personal touch, meaning that she takes all the time that she needs with that client. She was very polite and smilling and let me came in the room, even if she was not finished with her client (who happens to be an expat’s Canadian client as well). She finished that client, then offered me a tea, and we chat a little bit, about me missing my first appointment, she said that she could have made a complaint about me, but she didn’t (A complaint to whom? I still don’t get this one?) …Thank you, I guess?
First treatement, I went for a full waxing. At first I was a bit stressed, first time trying another spa, since my usual that is pretty difficult to beat on a quality level , but since they are in Canada and that I am now in Netherlands for a while, I have no choice but to try other spas. Mistake: I have applied Emla cream on my bikini zone, usualy the lidocaine helps to numb the zone, so it’s less pain when you do the brizilian (as in removing all hair in you genetalia area). Since, Vanessa is using a hot wax procedure (not a strip)…. OMG, I can’t begin to tell you how burning it was…it felt like being burned alive. Yes, that much! But I survived (now I know that I will never apply it again for the bikini). For everything else, Vanessa is a very professional technician (beautycian), she is very knowledgeable and knows what she is doing. She took care of everything, and then when it was all done, she took the time to rub each area with oil or cream.
The first impression was that I felt that my skin was very soft, my eyebrows were still a bit long (could have used a bit more trimming), I did it once at home (that’s only then that I noticed). Other then that, I was pleased with the results (my skin was very soft all over and I didn’t had problems with ingrown hair …I am prone to have some from time to time.
After the success of my Waxing at Phann Beauty, I booked another appointment, using the website , I booked a pedicure. It was perfect, but again I was expecting something else, I was hoping to get paraphine mask on my feet…I did not…she said that she is mostly doing it during the winter times. But when you have articulations problems, you need to have that any time of year. That again, I will have to mention it, if I really want it next time.
My last appointment was yesterday, this time it was for a Facial (Never had one before), I got the RITUEL PARFAITE EXPERIENCE and I also got a Full body massage. I got there again a bit early…she let me come in, got me a tea. We talked a little bit and then it was pampering time. Vanessa is very gentle, but don’t worry she can also apply pressure as much as you like (I did mention that I prefer gentle massage at first). She started with the massage and then finished with the facial (so I layed on her massage table for 3 hours). I was very relaxed at the end.
Now, you must be curious about if I recommand Phann Beauty on you next trip to The Hague, Netherlands? Yes! On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, I would give a strong 4 , she is not getting 5 stars, only for the staircases ...and I guess it's not her fault. She does have to pay a rent and in that area it shoud be very expensive, not much choice.
Pros: The location (center), the professionalism and the individualism of the services that Vanessa is providing.
Cons: The Spa is on the third level of the building (circular staircase, with small steps) and they don’t have an elevator. If you have mobility problems it’s not for you.
