Nice lake
Oct 2021 • Solo
This lake is a nice attraction in the city, there is some fish takeaways on weekend and a great spot to sit down and relax at the bench

Dates back to 1248!
Mar 2021 • Solo
The Hofvijver is not really a pond but actually a lake fed by a water flow from the dunes of Kijkduin. It was created from a natural lake in 1248 by William the second when he built the first castle on the location. Now it is a mesmerizing backdrop to the centre of government, the Binnenhof, and the small tower which is the office of the prime minister.

Centrally located in the city center, a great place to relax for a few minutes
May 2019
Near to many sights, the "Hofvijver" is a wonderful place to take a little break when the weather is nice.
With a view of the imposing old building on the other side - the original building dates from the 13th century. It was once a hunting lodge. Today it is the heart of Dutch democracy, the workplace of the Dutch Prime Minister, as well as the Dutch Senate and Parliament. Right next to it, the yellow building, the Mauritshuis Museum. In the background the skyscrapers ...

It is definitely worth a short visit here!

What a stunning view

We arrived at the golden hour and this was one 9f the first things we saw in Hague. It was straight from the fairytale. Worth to visit and relax in the small park for couple of minutes.

Lovely setting
Oct 2019
We were here at around sunset. The lighting was incredible. Since it was autumn the trees were all orange and red. Fantastic.

Once a natural dune lake
Aug 2019
At first glance the Court pond (Hofvijver) looks like an artificial rectangular shallow pond serving to beautify the setting of the houses of parliament. However, it originally was and to some extent still is a natural dune lake. Until around 1800 the castle of the counts of Holland (now parliament) was encircled by moats and lake. The moats were filled up, but the lake wasn't. The lake is still fed by the Haagse beek (Hague brook) and linked with other dunelakes.

Nice area of The Hague, visit together with the Binnenhof
Aug 2019
A very good location for taking pictures, especially in the summer when surrounded by many flower baskets. As it is adjacent to the Dutch parliament buildings at the Binnenhof, combine it with a visit to those as well.

Lovely Lake to Stroll Around
Jul 2019
This is the heart of the museum district and the soul of the city, with much historical significance. But aside from that, it's very beautiful, and walking around it is a must on a visit to this city.
