I've been doing a lot of walking, lately, due to a running injury. It's a lovely green space to enjoy some mature around your doorstep. Especially in the snow, the scenery is magic. So close near the city centre, yet so peaceful if you know where to go.

Haagse Bos, literally means the Hague's forest. The forest seems to have been built over marshes but is now a popular place for local and expatriate residents to run, walk, dog walk, have a picnic, bird watch or view/do activities in the open spaces laid out within the city forest.
East-west through the forest, the main artery is a bike lane that goes east of Laan van Nieuwe Oost Indie all the way to Prinsegracht/ Raamweg (the Centraal Station side). We have taken this path as a family with my toddler on a back bike seat during the summer.
Now with a preschooler and an infant diring winter, we happily discovered the Huttenbos. This is a forest clearing where young and old can build their own hut made of all the pieces of wood that have been felled or have fallen. It's a great place for little ones to burn off energy since there are bits of obstacle course as well made of the logs. For pre-teens to adults, it's a whole lot of fun and challenge to build the cosiest hut for winter! No tools required!
There is a central pond that snakes at the centre of the forest. Lovely to gaze at the water while having a picnic for sure.
There are deer grazing in an enclosure just north of the Centraal Station and the city's symbol, the stork, has a nest perched up on a post on the same area.
Just across the west-east bike path within the park, there is Malieveld. Wide open space extension to the north where events are held throughout the year: City-Pier-City run in March, Queen's Day children's items sale in April, Tong Tong Fair and Veteran's Day celebration in May... The list goes on up to December where the Great Christmas Circus is set-up.
For fitness or for leisure, a lovely forest walk is guaranteed! Honestly, I wish I had gone here more often but for the moment, it's never too late!

Walked quite some distance in the Haagse Bos. Some 40 years ago I passed it frequently, while living in the neighborhood. Nothing really changed!

My wife loves nature so after arriving in town we took a walk in the Bos. While it was raining and little chilly once we got "going" it was an enjoyable time. Plenty of paths to get away from the bustle of town. Crossing the thoroughfare was a bit of a challenge but like most things Dutch it was just a question of finding the crosswalk and following the rules. While there we saw a number of a kindergarten classes enjoying nature

This park is a real forest in the middle of the city.
It stretches for a very huge space, there are many people walking their dogs (unleashed)
although the signs every where say that the dogs should be leashed.

An ancient forest and home to the Royal Palace, extensive woodland with its beautiful ponds and winding pathways, where you can watch kingfishers and buzzards, and also the deer... Full of colour in spring with blooming azaleas and rhododendrons, gently reflected in the water... a green oasis in the middle of the city.

If you have the time, this is a lovely park to explore by foot or by bike. On good weather days, we have enjoyed the Robin Hood park - an outdoor play area with a zip line, wooden climbing frames for kids. Further away from Den Haag Centraal Station, there is a lovely Huttenbos - a little wooded area where during winter, we have joined other park visitors (families usually) to put up long thin fallen branches of trees in the form of forest 'tee-pees'. Young and older kids just love to play pretend 'camping'!
I haven't had the courage to walk and follow one of the trails from a corner of the park to another but definitely, always a nice serene place to go to and get away from the bustling sounds of the city and screeching of the trams.

I go running in this park area at least twice a week. It has a massive network of paths, cycle tracks and nature trails and allows you to explore this vast space and still be close to the city

Good running park not too busy but big enough to get some distance for running. There are bicycle track, hiking trail(plus dog walking path) and horse trail. Spotted few rabbits and apparently there are dear in this park, which I have yet to see. Just take care if you wonder off into the horse trails, they do run horses in this park as well which you do need to be aware of and give way if you ever wander into the horse trail.

Lovely green space in The Hague. Great place for a run or walk, as we did with the family. In regard to the COVID19-crisis, people kept their distance so everybody could have a walk responsibly.

Hi
