Het Plein is a large square in the old quarter of Den Haag and was created in 1632, it is close to Binnenhof and Mauritshaus. In the centre of the square is the statue of William the Silent, which was created by Dutch sculptor Lodewyk Royer and was completed in 1848.

The square is close to many historical buildings but has a backdrop of a modern city skyline. There are many bars and restaurants that surround the square giving the area a vibrant feel, it is worth a visit whilst in the vicinity.

There are some beautiful streets and buildings in this area around the Binnenhof and Hofvijver. Some of the roads are closed off due to government security. Some very nice open air restaurants in this area as well.

Plein Den Haag uit 1632 is a largish public square. There are trees and other greenery around and a statue in the middle, of William of Orange. Around the square and beyond, there are numerous cafes and restaurants, with outside seating. It is a terrific area not only to walk around but also to sit down and relax, have a drink or have something to eat. And all of this practically in the centre of this beautiful city.

The Plein (or The Square in English) was created in 1632 by governor Willem Frederik on the locations of the gardens outside the Binnenhof. Amsterdam and Rotterdam built mansions there to provide accomodation for their officials visiting the government. Now it it is a very lively city square with lots of restaurants and cafes and a great view of the modern Hague skyline with a number of architecturally interesting highrises.

Really cozy square filled with tables from the various bars, restaurants on a summer day. Behind the statue of Willem of Orange you can see the skyscrapers and modern buildings. Makes for great pictures.

The spacious square was build in 1632 and is very lively since it is bordered by many side-walk cafe's and restaurants on one side and the government of the Netherlands on the other side.

Visited On this occasion with family and friends who were originally born there. So much history if you have time to see at least some of it -a wonderful the prison, palace, government building / square and you can try the local delicacy outside parliament...... raw herring a never forgotten experience but you’ve gotta give it a go.

Random guests are selected who are not allowed to enter. There have been two occasions when the person who is Bob doesn't come in because he can't drink. Think that says enough
