Walking Audio Tour of the Historical Heart of The Hague

On this self-guided GPS audio tour you'll see the beautiful old city centre, where kings reign and some of the world's most famous art is displayed. We'll begin our journey at the Mauritshuis and find out how The Hague grew from a small settlement to the centre of political power in the Netherlands, and end the tour with a stroll along the country's most famous avenue.

Along the way, we'll stop by a square that was the site of many executions, a notorious former prison, and I'll point out the best fish-shack in town. The Hague forms a rich part of the Netherlands' history and the characters that people it. Join me to uncover some of these people and their stories.

The tour is ready whenever you are and the audio plays automatically at exactly the right time and place using your smartphone's GPS and the VoiceMap mobile app, which also works offline.

It's a nice way to experience The Hague from a different perspective. Because it's a guided tour you will also learn a bit about the history of The Hague.

You can get to the top of the Grote Kerk in the Hague by joining their guided tours. The tour costs 6 euros and takes about one hour. You climb up through the different levels where you see the machinery that plays the melodies. The guide had lots of great stories to tell about things that I didn't know either, even though I've lived here for quite some time. You get to see the the bell machinery in action and at the end you have plenty of time to enjoy the view of the city from the top of the tower. The view is magnificent. The climb up is via stairs (quite narrow at parts) with a railing all the way. As long as you're able to walk in stairs this won't be a problem. Highly recommended! (Btw, the church is separate so it doesn't include a tour of the church)

Average impressions. The view is ok but the lobby is not. Too small, too expensive, not quiet and personnel who was bored.

"De Haagse Toren" offers a 6 euro guided visit to the top of the historic church tower of "Grote Kerk Den Haag".The similar named " Haagse Toren"is a modern viewing platform-bar on top of a highrise building (8euro including drink). The similar names of both attractions offering panoramic views can be confusing. I enjoyed the guided tour of the tower and the view over the old historic centre of the Hague;well worth the 6euro fee.
