The gorgeous Montevideo skyscraper was designed by Francine Houben of Mecanoo architects and is some 150 meters tall. It was named after one of the warehouses that used to be on this gentrified docklands area - receiving trade from Uruguay. It is mostly residential but at the ground level is a famous steak restaurant called “Loetje” (imported from Amsterdam).

The Montevideo skyscraper on the "Kop Van Zuid" redeveloped harbour area, with the large "M" on top has a prominent presence in the Rotterdam architecture. It stands behind the heritage HAL building, now Hotel New York; the building next to it is the equally famous Port of Rotterdam building. The plan was to build three skyscrapers like Montevideo; I don't know if the plans for the other two have been given up, or will be executed on a later date.

On a bright day this building stands out on the Kop van Zuid especially while it stands next to Hotel New York and the walking bridge to Katendrecht.

The Montevideo is a huge skyscraper in Rotterdam. It is a residential tower. It is quite lovely architecturally, but I don't think I would be too excited about it. We just happened to walk by and had a quick look but that's about it.

Yes!, it looks like an old(ish) water tower on one of the corner of the building. It' such a contrast, very funny!

We loved going into this area of Rotterdam, which was easy to get to by walking over the Eramusbrug. These buildings are a marvelous achitecture structure. Will be back next time!

On a good day you can see Den Haag, even further, its a modern style building with appartments, restaurants, private gym, under ground parking and what ever your interests or tasts in foods just pop outside and you will find it or drive 5 mintes to the city center, take a tram or just walk over the Erasmus bridge and you will find it all.

This skyscraper is easily recognizable due to the "M" of Montevideo on top. It is home to a lot of apartments and was the first skyscraper on the redeveloped Wilhelminapier. It houses several restaurants and is a nice place to go to.
