Great to see individual shops on all sides of the streets, no big department stores. Very clean and well signposted area.

The eastern end of this street near Rotterdam Central Station is also named "China Town" due to the Chinese community living in this part of Rotterdam and the Chinese shops and restaurants in this part of the street. It also houses shops and restaurants from entrepreneurs with a Moroccan, Surinamese, Turkish and many other backgrounds. The place to go when looking for a multicultural street.

Just 5 minutes walking from the Central Station, you reach West Kruiskade, which is a shopping and restaurant street almost entirely with immigrants' businesses. You can find a lot of things here, but also eat great food. Most of the businesses are Surinamese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Turkish, Other Arab, etc. The street itself is clean, but gives the impression of not being so because most of the restaurants and shops have unaestethically-looking street signs and ads. If you want a more "well organized and clean" street, go to Witte de Withstraat or Oude Binnenweg. If not, it's a nice experience.

The West-Kruiskade shopping area lies next to the city-centre, only 5 minutes walking distance from the new Central Station. Just follow the signs and you'll get there. Many small restaurants, two large Chinese supermarkets, bakeries and a few Chinese restaurants. There are many other small shops, bakeries and butchers as well as smallish outlets where one can buy clothes and toys. You best visit during day time, most shops close at 6 pm. Some are open on Sundays.
