If you're in or around Rotterdam, you should absolutely visit Meent. There are many different cafes and bars and restaurants that you could choose from. Also, there's shopping, a movie theatre, some art galleries and basically anything that you may need for one nice afternoon. Meent is close to the "Cool District" (walking distance), which has more shopping and food. If you go on a Tuesday or Saturday, you can also see their farmers' market. I definitely recommend visiting this place.

In a nice shopping district of Rotterdam, this was a nice place to take a break and have a glass of wine and do some people watching.

This is one of the shopping streets in Rotterdam. People say that It's the most trendy shopping centre of Rotterdam. You can find shops (most of them are fashion), restaurant, bar and others.

For those who don't like to shop - apparently some lovely shops - THOMS Restaurant & Underground Bar comes highly recommended - very nice staff and lovely food - open kitchens downstairs.

Lots of very nice bars / restaurants. Special: DUDOK, a former banking office, long time ago rebuilt into a restaurant, keeping lots of ancient details. Don't miss this.
But also other bars/restaurants are worth a visit.

Located on the other side of the Coolsingel than most of Rottterdam's center, this street is great for shopping, but mostly for restaurants. Other than this, it's nothing special. Still, one of the best places to go when searching for a place to eat lunch or dinner.

If you're a food lover, you will spend at least one of your meal in the surroundings of Meent, especially if you want to try on pastries: don't miss Dudok and its high tea and velvet cake!

On the main street of Rotterdam, the Coolsingel, between the "Beurs" and the monumental former main post office building, the street, called Meent, begins. It is a rather long street, running in north-eastern direction till the crossing with the Goudsesingel. The street is lined with buildings, constructed just after WW II; this part of Rotterdam was devastated by bombing in May 1940. The architecture of these buildings is therefore called "reconstruction architecture". The Meent is a good example of this reconstruction architecture; some buildings on the Coolsingel from this period are already demolished and replaced. Not only the architectural side is interesting, but the Meent is also a typical shopping street, with all kinds of shops, cafés and restaurants.
