Nice pretty area which is basically a strip of restaurants lining the harbour. You can walk around it in 10 mins. We visited a few times, once in the day and took some lovely photos and twice in the evening to sit outside and eat. There are loads of great please to eat or stop for a drink. Most have a canopy so don't let the rain put you off.

Very Appealing city, flew direct into Rotterdam airport which is quaint, and very efficient. Stayed in central business district very nice architecture shops and historic references to read about. Will definitely return next time for a holiday.

From Rotterdam Blaak station, we went to the Old Harbor through the Cube Houses (functions as an overpass too). We were here in the afternoon and we found it a nice place to hang out and pass time. Lots of tables and seating area outside. Just choose among the open cafes.

The Old Harbour is a lovely and picturesque spot. It's full of museums, cafes, bars and restaurants and the boats in the water complete the whole picture. It's quite beautiful.

Looking at the idyllic Old Harbor, it is difficult to imagine that the largest port in Europe has grown from here. Audi Haven is not the oldest port in Rotterdam, but historically such a name has stuck. The first pier was built here around 1350. As a port, it ceased to exist in 1980 and has been a place of entertainment for almost half a century. It is easy to get here through the Blok metro station, next to which the famous cubic houses are located. The Old Harbor has its own White House (Het Witte Huis), which was once the tallest skyscraper in Europe (45 meters) and survived the bombing of 1940. Most of the other houses were destroyed, so there is a modern building here. In addition, there is also a Maritime Museum. I arrived here late and all I had to do was wander around and look at the moored ships, cranes and the lighthouse and the waters of the Maas..

The old harbour as the name says is the oldest part of Rotterdam, which now cannot be seen in the original form, due to the II world war bombing, but you can feel that spirit.
Mixed old and new modern houses, with many bars and restaurants, with numerous and every kind vessels makes a great ambience to spend a couple of hours.

One of the best places in Rotterdam to go for a beer. Very popular by the local people to go out. Worth to try.

If you love water and boats (good sized ones really) then this will be a great walk from the main square area and along the river.

Is this near the cruise port?
Written November 16, 2016
In Rotterdam, everything is "near" thanks to the metro: if you arrive at the Cruise Terminal, you will have to take the subway at "Wilhelminaplein" (Line E) to "Beurs" and there you can either join "Blaak" by foot or with the other metrolines (A/B/C). Blaak is one of the hotspot for typical Rotterdam's architecture with the Markthal, the Cube Houses and the Rotterdam weekly market on Saturdays (one of the biggest in Holland) :) Just a one minute walk and you will discover the old Harbour (on the other side of the Cube Houses when you exit the metro station!) Hope it helps! ;)
