    Beautiful city of Rotterdam
Visiting Rotterdam is definitely worth of your time and money. What came to my attention is that this is only city in Netherland where you can get shower after a long trip. Heard about this place City Shower went there and just for €3 for 10 minutes freshen up and went further to discover this amazing city! Besides that I liked the food a lot ( so many choices between Suriname and Chinese restaurants). Definitely worth of visiting ❤️💯🙏

    Busy station
Such a busy station with numerous shops and cafes interesting building and architecture to view . The trams are caught from outside the station and the same as the buses. We caught the train directly from Amsterdam central it took us about 50 minutes

    Cool Building to see
Beautiful functional building. Even if you aren't travelling by train, it's worth a visit. There are cafes and gift shops inside although some require a train ticket to access. Pay toilets. We heard there were pickpockets active here but we had no problems, just keep a close eye on your belongings. At one point during our week stay, there was a virtual train conductor activity ( I think you had to pay) and a stage set up for free jazz performances.

Absolutely horrible experience. I was just going to ask for some help, and got to deal with a ruthless old grumpy grandpa at the train information desk. As a guy jumped the queue I told him kindly to wait his turn and do the queue. At that moment the grumpy agent at the information desk screamed at me and told me that HE was the one deciding who's turn it is.

I mean, I understand that the only power he has in his life is deciding on when to attend the people or not, but still, I did the queue and it was my turn.

He told me to walk off, to shut up, he then gave me the WRONG information (I could have gotten a fine if I followed his instructions). And if this all wasn't enough, he showed me the F* sign. I just couldn't believe it.

So if you're up to being disrespected and insulted, go at the information kiosk and you'll be fully served.

The people's personal frustration on their unfulfilling job should stay in their own life and not impact any customer! This horrific unsatisfied person deserves to see what hard life is and lose his job. Same for the colleagues in the same office who didn't do and say ANYthing even though they heard him yelling and screaming at me.

I reported this to the security and they confirmed he gave me the wrong information and that if I followed them I would get a fine.

So the Rotterdam train station employer should better control on their people, because I will never ever use their trains anymore. This whole story could have cost me a lot of money.

We arrived at Rotterdam and headed straight to the info desk where I did my best to speak in Dutch. The grumpy attendant grunted at me and pointed to a makeshift sign which stated not to ask for info? He wouldn’t talk and just kept tutting and eye rolling. I then went to try the service desk and asked the assistant for an open return for two people to Maastricht. I was told this would cost over 100 Euros but he could arrange a very special offer. For just over 80 Euros it was possible to return at any time. I checked twice that it would be okay to return in two days. The man kept smiling and reassured me that the ticket would be good. On boarding the train the ticket inspector said that the tickets were only valid for one day and that I had unnecessarily been sold the most expensive ticket. I felt well ripped off and my first impression of Rotterdam was marred. Having bought yet more tickets in Maastricht, and on our return, I headed to the same kiosk for information on storage lockers where a lovely lady could not have been more professional and helpful.
In general the station is bright and clean, the trains are efficient, the shop assistants are very helpful but certain members of staff are rather unpleasant and dishonest and, in our experience, let the standard down somewhat.

First of all, I do not consider this a tourist destination, but rather a well-functioning transport hub.

The hall of this station is certainly impressive, but at the same time I have the idea that the originally devised lighting plan does not work well at all: the holes in the roof are supposed to let sunlight through, but in reality the entire hall is often shrouded in twilight.

The number of options for dinner is very limited for such a large station as this one. Sandwiches, coffee and pasta to go, ok, it's there. But somewhere to sit a bit longer than a couple of minutes for an evening meal? Unfortunately not. The fact that it is always very drafty in the corridor underneath the tracks is not very inviting or welcoming either...

One thing we did comment on was how clean the station was. As this was our first visit to Rotterdam and not having organised a private transfer, we had to get the train from Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam. Staff were very easy to approach and assisted us in using the ticket machines.

The last time I visited Rotterdam the station was under refurbishment and truly was a building site. Many years later and I had seen TV programmes in the UK like "The Architecture The Railways Built" and Tim Dunn paid a visit to Rotterdam Centraal and I was amazed at the transformation so I had to pay a visit to this spectacularly grand station!

Arriving at the station by train there are escalators and staircases to get down to the main thoroughfare. There are plenty of shops to visit if you need to get some refreshments or supplies for your journey.

Passing through the ticket barrier take an opportunity to turn around and admire the grandeur of the station. It's not just a functional station, it is light and makes for a smooth travel experience.

Outside the station there is a large open space with interchanges for the trams and metro as well as places to site and relax.

With little experience we mastered the rail system. The TI desk offers detailed schedules for each train so we could identify what our options were. The trains run often and can be early - show up early to be on time. The yellow ticket dispensers have an English option that is very straightforward. Remember to scan your ticket on the way in and on the way out. For the times we were in a hurry, the station has a grocer AH that seems to be open at nearly all hours for decent coffee and snacks. The station and the rail cars are clean. It is a great way to travel with luggage and without. If you are on vacation - AVOID rush hour...unless you like to stand up. Like all Centraal stations, it is in the heart of the city. Easy walk to most tourist destinations.

We used the station to get a train into Amsterdam whilst staying overnight in Rotterdam on a cruise. The station is modern and has self service ticket machines which enabled us to buy tickets with no issues. Departures are signposted well as are the platforms.

I took a day trip to visit this amazing city. I loved it because it’s not over populated with tourist and there was alto to see and do. I took the ICD train from Amsterdam Central Station direct to Rotterdam with 1 stop at Schiphol Airport, It took about 50mins to arrive. Cost for RT 40€.

I literally walked around the City for 8hrs. From Rotterdam Central Station I walked to Markthal Rotterdam (a must see) you can find all types for food from around the world, get your spices and everything, stop at the outdoor market for fresh fish, fruits and clothing, near Cube House all in the same area of the market. cross the bridge and took the boat to SS Rotterdam, book your reservation for dinner on the ship In Advance. Many cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from, there is no shortage.

Overall is a beautiful city to explore and I will definitely visit again for a few days.

Tommy experience with many train stations in Europe is that they are pretty efficient and easy to use. Centraal Station was no exception. However, it is newer and cleaner than any station I have been in before which made the experience much better.

The building is impressive but inside it’s cold, there aren’t enough seats, and there a only 2 shops selling food and drink.

One is excellent but you can only use plastic to pay, and the other is in the main hall but only accessible via a door beyond the entry barrier.

Which meant no food or drink for us!

Style over substance.
