This is a large and very detailed model of Rotterdam central station, harbour, and city areas. The ships and buildings are very detailed and the whole layout is spectator-friendly, both for children and adults. The trains, however, need some more attention: the electric locomotives run without touching the overhead wires, several of them do not have the correct lights front and rear, and several of the passenger coaches have no light inside, even at "night". And then there is a wind turbine that defies aerodynamics and turns the wrong way round. But apart from that ....
Oh, the Great Britain area under construction is very promising.

I've always loved model railways, dioramas etc, so when I booked a trip to Rotterdam this was on my must-do list.
It's not a huge place, but they pack so much into it. It depicts the Netherlands for the most part (there is a British themed area downstairs) and it's just wonderful.
There's vehicles of all sorts running around the various layouts (not just trains!) and there's so much going on at any one time, you need to walk round a few times to see it all.
One of my favourite things is the changeover from day to night, which happens every 20 minutes or so. One of the reasons I spent so long here was to see every area of the layouts in both and night time.
Some of the areas are interactive, just look for the green-lit buttons and press them! (Especially the football stadium!)

This is an attraction mainly for families and kids, but also for us big kids who want to feel young again.

As well as the main attraction, there is also a cafe and a shop if you want food or a souvenir.

If I'm ever back in Rotterdam, I'll make sure to visit this place again. I really enjoyed it.

Note, as of June 2023, there's some building work going on outside, I walked past the entrance initially!

I last visited Mini World in 2015 and on my visit to Rotterdam I really wanted to see it again. I am so glad I did.

It is just a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal station along Weena and is well signposted upon your arrival.

I do not speak Dutch but the staff were very helpful and answer the questions I had.

The display is OUTSTANDING and there are trains running all over the layout so you are not short of things to see.

The layout is a good representation of Rotterdam and there are buildings to admire as well as the trains whizzing about.

Downstairs is a work in progress as the construct a UK layout. I look forward to returning in a few years to see how this looks.

There is a cafe and a well stocked gift shop for a variety of different age groups.

Having visited Minature World in Hamburg, I thought this would be similar but this is nowhere near that one in size or creativity (spent hours at that one completely mesmerised). When you first walk in to this one, everything is very dated. The designs of the ‘worlds’ themselves are quite basic, the only real moving parts are the trains with the odd thing here and there. It is quite dusty and needs some thorough cleaning. The place is quite small and pretty messy. Can see the areas they have yet to built and bits of material and wood all open to see. The entire place needs sprucing up. It should be half the price they actually charge. it is expensive for what it is. I wish I didn’t bother with this.

We loved the experience and was fascinated by the work that had gone into making all the different locations and set-ups. Our children 5 and 7 really enjoyed the visit, we spent about 90 minutes looking round. There is a cafe and small shop. You can miss it from the outside if not looking carefully as there are some construction hoardings nearby. A real gem of a place. Favorite part was when the lights were dimmed so that we could see the set up as if it were night time.

Very interesting place where we can meet Rotterdam City! The place is OK, but it needs some cleaning, as we can see some models full of dust. Lot of information is not translated in English, so it is quite difficult to understand the full scope. But, in general is good experience for kids!

This is a great place to start a trip to Rotterdam - even more with the convinient location near the central train station.
The 24 minutes long "day/night" cycle was pretty cool - you got to see all the miniatures in dark with its lights on.
I spend an hour there, including a snack at the restaurant - which was more of a snack bar/ fast food.

Located within walking distance of the Rotterdam Central Station, my oldest son and I had a wonderful afternoon here. It's wonderful to see all the miniature trains go by.

Some of the trains do look and sound a bit worn out, with creaky noises coming from the carbon brushes of the engines and/or wheels. The same goes to the exhibits. Not all trains have lights and sometimes there is a derailment that needs to be solved.

Very keen to see how the UK lay-out will look like once completed. Interesting to see Miniworld has chosen for HO scale, were UK model railways are predominately OO. I wonder what rolling stock will be used as there is not a lot of current UK stock available in HO (to my knowledge).

Entrance prices are a bit on the steep side (€25 for an adult and a three year old).

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon. It is well organised, and set up and gives a lot of information and history on the Netherlands. Very interesting overall, and the downstairs British exhibition was also good. Would recommend for a visit for a couple of hours.

love, love, love this place. I have a thing for miniatures already, and my passion is obviously shared by the builders of this place. Kids cannot get enough of its great views, but most adults will enjoy it just as much. Easy acces as it is a 5 minute walk from central station.
