Had to wait for my son to return from the Dutch Grand Prix so decided to stop in here for a beer and watch some football. Enjoyed the beer so much, I did the same the following day!

Landlord and staff were all very friendly and I felt happy and safe on my own there.

So much so that when our flights got cancelled we went back again for a third day and one more visit.

Looking forward to coming over with my husband and friends next April and will be bringing them in too!

Thanks everyone x

Being an England supporter watching them beat Columbia here obviously improved the experience but notwithstanding that the bar had a great atmosphere and sold a great selection of beers at a reasonable price

We've only been to Leiden twice, and both times we visited this bar on the 12th of Septemer. Two years ago it was to watch Anthony Martial announce his arrival on the world stage and this time it was the first night of the first round of matches in the Champions League.
All 8 matches were covered on the big screens and the mix of nationalities present was enormous - yet the atmosphere was tremendous and so friendly. Despite being so busy, I still got served every time with little more than a raise of the eyebrow and wave of an empty glass. It was far too noisy to communicate in anything other than the international language of footy fans enjoying the beautiful game. At the end it was outside for a smoke and a good humoured post mortem. This is probably one of the best Sports Bars in Holland and credit must go to the friendly team running the place. We'll be back !

Great atmosphere, right in the centre of Leiden. There is an outside seating area too & the fish & chips that we had were lovely.

I lived in the Netherlands for many years. The Duke of Oz kept me sane. I'm a Brit, who was married to a Dutch lass. This became my regular haunt. I could speak English here without fear of feeling out of place, as this is a truly international pub, where nationalities often come together under the guise of watching sports but in truth are probably more looking for something in common with other people around them.

The Duke has an inordinate amount of screens, showing whatever it is you're after. Hurling, curling, football, cricket.. if it's on, it's on, or if it's not when you arrive... ask.

Run by a Dutch chap and an Australian dude you'll get conversation from both, and from the regulars. Stumble across the place when the national team are playing and it's a veritable sea of Orange and noise. Saturday and Sunday football festivities are always busy, and in the months where the climate allows it, there's a barge on the canal that holds several tables full of customers.

I hated the cost of beer in Holland, so when I did venture out it had to be somewhere I enjoyed going to. This was the place. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

One of my friends frequented the bar during our two weeks of summer school in Leiden. We joined him sometimes and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and good drinks. Interestingly, the last night, our friend was the guest of the bartender for a drink! He was very surprised and felt he has done his part in Leiden!
We also met friendly locals at the bar, who talked to us and knew a lot about our home country!

Had a great 3 day stay in Leiden and visited the Duke 4 times. Great bar with friendly staff and loads of Tv's. Also lots of nice quirky Aussie memorabilia. Well worth a visit when in Leiden.

I’ve been to Leiden twice. This place is good for entertainment with some friends. The drinks are pretty cheap and it’s the perfect place to watch the Six nations rugby !
