We travelled to Zoeterwoude in search of Petrol on a very rainy Sunday afternoon, when the weather cleared overcast but calm we were able to enjoy the views of the canals.

If you can find a way to have a private cruise, the canals and rivers passing throughout Leiden are a "must do". Historic, picturesque, pleasurable...what else can I say? Pack some cheese, wine, sandwiches and enjoy. We did this as a family with 8 adults...More

The Rhine flows through the city of Leiden. It is as if you are in Venice. The cozy canals with several small boats who sail from bridge to bridge is just fantastic.

You can walk or you can bike all over, but either way you miss hidden treasures only to be discovered by boat. Specially if you are short of time, this is a great way to go though the city.

The stroll alone the Rhine and environs in Leiden gave us an excellent feel and flavor for The Netherlands. The weather was splendid. The people were friendly. The riverside, Dutch buildings, windmills, canals, and streets were wonderful to walk.
