Very interesting, very well curated. This house has been brought back to late 17th/early 18th century. Lot of information available and the staff was very helpful and spend some twenty minutes with us explaining various aspects of the house. It is not huge, so you will be done in 60-90 minutes. Bring your museumjaarkaart!
Dordrecht is a lovely town to stroll around.

I was visiting Dordrecht for the first time and we decided just to spend a few hours walking around the historic city centre and the quay side. We came across the Patricierhuis by accident on the walk back to the station and were pleased to have visited it. It was built in 1649, and is not a classic museum, with lots of exhibit pieces Rather it is an insight into how the wealthy lived in those times and since. The video introduction, which you are encouraged to watch as a starting point, is very illuminating you should definitely spend the time to watch it at the beginning. The staff were very friendly & helpful in giving you further information if required.
One point of caution if you have mobility issues the stairs are very steep and, and of course there is no lift – that would not be possible.
An interesting point that emerged from the video was that the owner actually lived in the house with his family until relatively recently and the children talk about their times in the house. He is now restoring it as closely as possible to it clear splendor – but what an opportunity they had to live in such a unique piece of history.

The house still breethes the atmosphere of hundreds years ago. It shows some foreign influences in Dordrecht, such as the Napoleon time, Swedish clothes, English tea attributes etc.
The room overlooking the socalled '3 river point' is breathtaking; you can still lie on the coach and feel yourselve a true dandy...

If you want to see one or the other, you should definately go to 'Huis van Gijn' as a very elaborate and beautifully furnished house of the old merchant and bankers era. The Dordts Patriciërshuis is okay to visit and has a nice 'oval room' that people can eat/drink in.

Worth the wait or the detour when you are exploring this great old part of Dordrecht. The people working there are very happy to tell you all about this house and its history. In the attic there is a video stream, which is translated in English. Watch it before you explore the rest of the house.

Fine house rescued from delapidation. Furnishing appropriate, but not original. Decoration well maintained. Has a fashionable cafe. Only just worth the entrance fee. You have to ring the door bell for admission, open from 1pm only.

the house is not very special... it doesn't have nice objects or special paintings.. The rooms didn't impress me much, just one room... the salon, had something appealing. It is round, it is partly hanging over the river and gives you a very nice view on one of the busiest rivers of the Netherlands. In this room you can get high tea.. and when I was there a large number of people did so.
In that sense you can come here for high tea/ book for high tea, but the museum itself is not worth going to despite the friendly and very helpfull staff.
If i hadn't had my museumcard I probably wouldn't have gone here.

Educational, interesting, history lesson, beautiful, need to buy a ticket, stairs no elevator. Perhaps a problem for elderly people.

Very nice house and very friendly volunteers who made the visit very personal. The Maaskamer is breathtakingly beautiful, but the other spaces were also very rewarding!

After my visit to the Van Strij/Pictura 250 years exhibition in the Dordrechts Museum, it turned out that a second, smaller exhibition was dedicated to the same theme in the Dordrechts Patrician House, a private museum in the old city at the point where three rivers meet. In this beautiful 17th century building with 18th century furnishings, approximately 35 drawings and paintings have been brought together under the title "Pictura in the Picture" (until October 31, 2024). These works are discussed by Charles Dumas in a beautifully produced catalog that has been published for this exhibition. It turned out to be well worth it to make a second trip to Dordrecht.
In addition to the exhibition, it is interesting to view the rest of the museum, such as the film about the museum on the second floor - the drying and ironing attic - the two salons with flower still lifes on the ground floor, the beautiful view of the water in the Maas room and, finally, the small historical and numismatic presentations in the basement.
The visitor is warmly welcomed in this museum by a few friendly and knowledgeable hostesses, who will serve you a cup of tea or coffee. Come visit them!
