Dordrecht is a cosy town all things considered. It has great shopping value but I've learned that the city of Dordrecht is somewhat of a narcissist. Perhaps the mayor has gotten it into his head that Dordrecht is on par with main popular destinations like Amsterdam or Rotterdam and should realise it really isn't. Sure, it has a thousand year old history, I'm not denying that. But look around you when standing in the middle of Statenplein square, is it really that special? What bothers me most is how difficult it is to find any reasonable parking space. There is one(!) free parking lot and only for 24 hours, which is closed on Sundays (?!). Driving inside of town is completely prohibited. It's not even possible to drop off any luggage. I'm probably biased as I live in Bruges and everything around me is oozing with historic value, prices are reasonable and parking here is easy and cheap (€3.50/day right next to the station, bus tickets included). I wasn't going to write about this until I've brought this up with a few locals who felt the same way. Please review your tourist friendliness, city of Dordrecht.
