Gezellig..Its a small market square with lots of little cafe' s and eateries.
The atmosphere is cosy/gezellig.

This lovely square is filled with trees shading you on warm days as you sit on one of the restaurants that is all around the square. There is plenty of restaurants to choose from, and in our opinion much better choice of restaurants than what you find on Markt. We found that this was the most popular place for the locals as well.

From 1595 to 1972 the square was the Delft cattle market where local farmers came with their cattle. This was then replaced making place for a parking lot. In the 90's it was being transformed into the lively square you'll find today.

A must visit if you are in the area. It is full of lovely canals and interesting shops as well as old church towers, castle towers and bridges.. a photographers paradise! As you might expect parking is quite expensive at €14 for more than 2/3 hours but worth while to have leisurely strolls taking in the scenery.

Oh well look!
We were in the main square on a Saturday evening.
I find it really welcoming and an excellent meeting point for young people. The flaw comes when sitting at the table, some chairs had a blanket, while others didn't. Very bad
Plus we were a group of foreigners and local guys, the guy at the bar didn't let us pay separately and kept the rest of the money (since some didn't have the precise amount).

Had a nice walk though it was a rainy day when i went there. Place to visit on Friday as the shops are open until 2100hrs. You can find nice picturesque cathedral here, the Delft Blue souvenirs, the cheese to bring back home and also plenty of coffeehouse to enjoy the day

The Beestenmarkt is an attractive tree-filled square in central Delft. Originally on the site was Minderbroederklooster which was a Franciscan monastery until it was demolished to make way for the square. The square was the location of the Delft Cattle Markets from 1595 until 1972, after that it became a car park for over 20 years until it was transformed into the current square surrounded by bars and restaurants. The square was busy on the warm day that we visited and is worth a visit whilst in Delft

Delft is one of the most beautiful small towns in Europe, much prettier than Amsterdam, though also very quiet. I recommend walking around the central square and the adjoining canals.

The nearby Markt is full of tour groups and school children but this is where the locals hang out: lovely, relaxed square full of cafes with a ceramic cow as its centre piece. On a sunny Spring afternoon this was a great place to while away an hour and it made me feel I could live in Delft - a lovely city.

Beestenmarkt is a charming square surrounded by restaurants. A lovely place to sit and while away an evening. One word of caution - the cobbles can be tricky and it's not very well lit - take care!
