The Vermeer Centrum Delft offers the visitor a discovery tour through the life, works and town of the 17th century master of light: Johannes Vermeer. The section 'Vermeer's world' shows you 17th century Delft. Wander through the famous 'View of Delft' and meet Vermeer's environment: his clients, his family and his rich mother-in-law. In Vermeer's world there are copies of all his paintings in their original size, an entire own world in his 37 works. Vermeer's atelier is dedicated to Vermeer's working methods. Discover how Vermeer mastered light in the light studio. Experiment with the camera obscura and play with colour, hidden views and perspective. And literally step into one of Vermeer's paintings. Many of the Delft painter Johannes Vermeer's paintings are about love. Sometimes it is obvious, but other times he subtly refers to it by painting certain objects or details. These objects and details can be seen in the exhibition 'Vermeer's love messages'. Learn to recognise the symbols in Vermeer's paintings. Besides a visit to the centrum, Vermeer can also be discovered on foot. An individual walk has been set out along all the highlights in Vermeer's life. The Vermeer Combiticket gives you access to all the locations.

Nice visit to this museum to see the history of Vermeer's work. I found it amusing that some tourists actually thought the photographs of the paintings were originals. Highly interesting to me was the video via the Rijksmuseum restorer who had recently restored one Vermeer's works. Be sure to pose for a picture as "The Lady writing a letter".

Great self guided tour in English. It gave a good insight into Vermeer's life and how he created his artwork. Very interesting and informative. Overall very good experience.

This is a lovely exhibition which tells some stories behind Vermeer's paintings. It was so atmospheric to see prints of all Vermeer's paintings while visiting the place which inspired him. The exhibition is well laid out with helpful visual aids and audio guides.

Although there's no originals on show this museum gives an excellent overview of the life and work of Vermeer. Part of the Delft card offer which provides great value.

If you are interested in seeing all of Vermeer's paintings in one place, this is the place. They are replicas of course, but they are life size and through the excellent exhibition one learns about Vermeer's life, the history of Delft and about other important contemporaries of Vermeer. On other floors Vermeer's technique is explained and experienced. The audio guide... More

This is a must see for Vermeer fans! However, there are no actually Vermeer paintings here. With an audio guide you learn about Vermeer’s 37 paintings in the order they were painted. Included was an exhibition a very interesting display of objects in the paintings represented. It was referred to as Vermeer’s love messages. Highly Recommended

Even if you are not fans of Vermeer, as we are not, this centre is worth a visit. It is partly about the man, the painter but also about the history of Delft. It has a lot of explanations about how and why he painted the way he did, which were quite illuminating. We are not big art fans but... More

Even though Delft and this museum have no original Vermeer's, we luckily saw many originals in Amsterdam. This museum taught the story of Vermeer and the artists whose work influenced Vermeer. We found it fascinating and very well done.

This attraction does not have any of Vermeer's paintings on display. It does provide lots of insight into the era in which Vermeer lived, the economic factors of the "Golden Age of the Netherlands", and his painting technique. There are interactive displays highlighting his relationship to prominent people of the period.such as van Leeuwenhoek. Finally on the top floor are... More
