The Vermeer Centrum Delft offers the visitor a discovery tour through the life, works and town of the 17th century master of light: Johannes Vermeer. The section 'Vermeer's world' shows you 17th century Delft. Wander through the famous 'View of Delft' and meet Vermeer's environment: his clients, his family and his rich mother-in-law. In Vermeer's world there are copies of all his paintings in their original size, an entire own world in his 37 works. Vermeer's atelier is dedicated to Vermeer's working methods. Discover how Vermeer mastered light in the light studio. Experiment with the camera obscura and play with colour, hidden views and perspective. And literally step into one of Vermeer's paintings. Many of the Delft painter Johannes Vermeer's paintings are about love. Sometimes it is obvious, but other times he subtly refers to it by painting certain objects or details. These objects and details can be seen in the exhibition 'Vermeer's love messages'. Learn to recognise the symbols in Vermeer's paintings. Besides a visit to the centrum, Vermeer can also be discovered on foot. An individual walk has been set out along all the highlights in Vermeer's life. The Vermeer Combiticket gives you access to all the locations.

Vermeer is Delft's favorite son (artist) and the museum does a nice job describing his works and his techniques using light and color. This is a fun stop after seeing his work at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. None of his paintings are here.

The Vermeer Center is a great place to learn about Vermeer's technique and inspirations. His use of light transformed the art world. Cost is €9 with audio guide included. While there are no original pieces here (kind of a bummer) you will see most of his work and gain a better understanding of his ground-breaking techniques. The staff was kind... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Vermeer Center. Although it hasn't any Vermeer originals it does have copies of all of his 37 works. An exhibit explains the hidden symbols in many of his paintings. The center includes a mock up of Vermeer's studio with some fascinating exhibits of his techniques. This is a must see attraction in Delft... More

Interesting history but marred by very poor reproductions, some of the film was completely out of focus. A real shame as Vermeer is the most famous historical resident of Delft.

Although the painting you will see in this museum are replicas, this is the only place you will see ALL of Vermeer's work. Delft is a small city, but full of exciting places to see. The famous painter Vermeer was living in the city. In his life time he painted only ~35 paintings, each one is a masterpiece, and they... More

The outside of the Lucad Doelen is rebuilt as it was in the days of Johannes Vermeer. It is interesting to see wo lived also in this period, and all the reproduced paintings of Johannes Vermeer.

This place tells the story of Vermeer's painting career. Costs 9 euros for a visit with a audio headphone. You can learn a bit about the history of Delft at the time of Vermeer. Not much is known about Vermeer and some of the information is just guesswork. Interesting none-the-less. You can look at copies of his paintings which is... More

We had a Vermeer Guide for the day, but this stop is a must. Though the paintings are all replicas, the copies are in actual size grouped according to when painted and the exhibition is well work the stop.

It's a modern explanation of Vermeer's work and world. The cafe was a good place for a cup of tea. The center's staff were very helpful and accommodating. The center was near the center of town.
