About
Step aboard the Middelburg canal cruise and explore this historic city from the water. Sail along the Lange Jan - the iconic 90.5 meter high tower of Middelburg - the VOC- building, the Oostkerk and the Kloveniersdoelen. During the canal cruise you will be taken along the picturesque canals, along the marina, to the heart of Middelburg. Middelburg was the second VOC- city in the Netherlands. Today it is the fifth monument city in the country, with more than 1200 monuments. Throughout the trip you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city's main attractions. Our captain tells you stories about the origin of the city, its rich history and its monumental buildings.

An excellent value, fun, informative canal boat tour of this lovely Zeeland City.

Make sure you duck your head for the low bridges!

This is a lovely, relaxing way to see Middelburg which is a most attractive town with the most helpful and friendly inhabitants too and sensibly priced refreshments.

As we were the only English speaking passengers the Guide / Captain had us sit close to him so that after his commentary in Dutch and German he could then give us a private commentary in English! His knowledge and love of his city was clearly obvious and contributed to an interesting, informative and enjoyable tour.

A large car park off Looierssingel Street opposite the canal and connected by a tunnel under the main road makes parking easy, (1 euro for 1 hour, 10 euro all day, with spaces for camper vans).

First tour of the day we were there started around 11am, we showed up just as they were opening the kiosk around 10.20am. Very knowledgeable guide who fluidly and fluently did the tour in 4 languages: Dutch, German, French, and English. Delightful town with a long and rich history. Well worth a visit of a few days, with this tour to start ... well recommended.

We love boat tours! It’s family friendly and fun. However, the first few bridges we go under are super low and you have to duck your head down several times to avoid being seriously wounded! The tour guide warns you and does a nice job guiding and telling of the cities history. It’s a pleasant ride. And then you’re scared for your life but you just duck down and move on.

Had a nice time with the kids sightseeing Middelburg by boat. A nice and well maintained wooden boat gets you around the canals offering an alternative view on the beauty of the city. The Captain & guide did a splendid job ensuring to give a wealth of info in regards to the city and it's history, hidden spots, as well as keeping it pleasant and fun at the same time. Recommended activity when you're in the city.

I have visited Middelburg several times but have never done this canal boat trip. I'm so glad I did. It was interesting and informative. The driver/guide gave the commentary in Dutch and German, but I was offered a booklet in English, and it was easy to follow. There are lots of lovely photo opportunities and everyone enjoyed having to duck for the low bridges! My elderly aunt who I was with was in a wheelchair and we could easily get her onto the boat, and the kiosk lady looked after her wheelchair while we were on the trip. Great service!

I did this by myself, and it was a very pleasant way to hear about the town. I was the only American on board, but there were some from Denmark that also preferred English, which I was glad. They do give you a paper with descriptions of what you're about to see that was nice as well. After the tour, I went back through and took extra pictures of what was discussed. A couple of things couldn't be seen from down in the canal. I'm really glad I did this.

Highly recommended for visitors. An entertaining and inforamtive trip around the canals of Middelburg. The owner/captain/guide effortlessly switching between Dutch, German and English (and no doubt others!) made the 45 minute trip extemely interesting and informative. A "must do" in Middelburg.
