The boats at Sloepje are reasonably priced and easy to manouvre through the canals. Make sure to keep an eye on the map in order to know where you are, because it is very easy to lose track of time and end up having to pay extra because you come back late (they're very punctual). I recommend at least 2 hours.

Free parking nearby, beautiful location for a boatride. You can either take a trip throught Urecht City or through nature, apart from location and scenery the difference lies in the fact that the first trip has a 1000 euro own riks charge if you hit or get hit by another boat. The second trip own risk is 500 euro. The owner provides you with a map and instructions on a card how to operate the boat. The boat has solid metal seating, boat cushions can be rented for an additional fee of 10 euro, which I recommend otherwise you'll get really cold. If it is not a hot summer day, bring blankets and wear something warm. It gets cold on the water. We had trouble finding the location at first, but it is just a short walk from the free parking at Blauwe Vogel 11 to the boar area. There are no signs leading you to the boats at the parking area so you have to have information from the website with you. There are no restroom facilities, which meant that after a drive of more than hour some of us had to resort to the nearby bushes. The owner specifies the no restroom facilities on his website, so we were warned in advance. When we arrived at his house we could not open the fence and ring the doorbell because the fence to his house was armed with electrical fence wire. So we just called out to let him know we were there. We were a bit late and that time was taken of the time of our boattrip, which we understood. On the way back we had some trouble with the speed of the boat, we worried the battery was low. But it had to do with dirt in the boat propellar, which we could fix by putting the boat in reverse and giving it three short bursts. After that we sailed on fine again. We called him to tell him we would be little late, as first time boaters we were not experienced and anxious to not damage the boat so we sailed back very slowly. Unfortunately it took us more time than expected. The owner was extremely angry when we got back. We expected to pay extra for the extra time, but before we had a chance to apologise we were told off and got scolded at in a very unpleasant manner. He took an extra hour from our deposit, which we understood but the way it came about was not very customer friendly. Also the scolding made made some of us very uncomfortable and they responded, which off course made things worse. It was time to leave, with some regrets after such a wonderful boattrip. Later that day the owner texted our friend who organised the event with threats and unfriendly comments. All and all extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant ending even though the boatride, the boat itself and the area was absolutely lovely.
