This cinema in a former police station is without a doubt the best place for seeing arthouse movies. Not only the cinema itself with comfortable seating and excellent sound, but also the café and it's restaurant. The neighborhood is also one of the hotspots in town.

The cinema is great, cozy and nice. Unfortunately they don't accept cash payments anymore which is a hassle. The restaurant food is also very nice with a good selection of vegetarian dishes.

Utrecht is blessed to have not one but several art house cinemas - the Louis Hartlooper complex being one of them. It's located at the Tolsteegbrug, so a little bit out from the city centre. The easiest way to get there is by bike. I believe the building used to be a police station. It was renovated extensively and opened... More

The cinema has art deco charm showing art house movies - what's not to like? The screens are small and intimate and there is a feeling all the staff who work here share a genuine passion for cinema. My favourite movie venue in Utrecht.

Looking for alternative movies in Utrecht? Then don't look any further. The cinema is cosy with a great choice of recent not-so-hollywood movies. And the food here is good too. So don't forget to check out the cafe part of Louis Hartlooper.

The Louis Hartlooper Complex is located near the edge of the city center of Utrecht and therefore can be reached best by bike (preferably) or public transport. There are no good parking spots nearby unfortunately. It features several cafe's inside and also outside is a terrace, usually very busy during summers. Each movie is preceded by an introduction.

This "arthouse" cinema is great. The cafe food is averaga but the atmosphere is good. It is a good place to have a couple of drinks after the movie.

What a great idea to transform the old police station into a cinema! I really like the location on Ledig Erf. Always a great choice of movies! I really enjoy the short speech before the movie to explain a bit the story, comment on the director, ... And the classic+lunch is on of my favorite time of the month!

Tucked away from the bustle of the centre of Utrecht is the Louis Hartlooper Cinema and cafe. We have watched films here as well as just chilling out in the cafe outside. It gets busy when the sun comes out. Good selection of beers, tea and food like the Spring Haver cinema and cafe. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. There... More
