It´s 230 steps to climb, but what a view. We visited this church and climbed the tower on our third visit to Zwolle.

The landmark of Zwolle is the tower of the "Onze Lieve Vrouwe" church, nicknamed in Zwolle "De Peperbus" (The pepper pot). This is due to the possible similarity of the top of the tower to a pepper shaker. The tower was constructed in the 14th and 15th century. Later additions caused the nickname to be adopted. It is possible to climb the tower for a nice view of Zwolle and surroundings.

Very friendly people who like to help and inform you.
The climb upstairs is quiet hard and you shouldn't be claustrofobic. But the reward is nice: A very wide view.

You can climb the tower via a small stairway to get to approx 55 meter high. From here, especially with clear weather, you will have a great view over Zwolle. Definitely worth the climb.

Next to the Roman Catholic Basilica dating from 1394-1399 a tower was build in 1540.
Today the shape of the tower reminds people of a pepper-container or a pepper-mill .
The church is often open for visitors free of charge and offers an 19th century" Neo-Gothic"-"Victorian" interior dating from 1875.
A climb to the summit of the tower offers a panoramic view of Zwolle;tickets for sale at church.

Definitely worth climbing up the stairs to see the amazing views of Zwolle. Don't forget to look around the beautiful connected church as well!

This tower is property of the city of Zwolle itself. The tower is about 250 feet high and has 51 bells. From the tower you have a perfect view of the city and the surrounding area depending on the weather.

Lovely church, and climb the 236 steps to the top of the tower and you'll get a decent panorama view of the city as well! Unfortunately, there is a chained fence that you have to look through, so really only small lenses and cell phones will be able to take good photos up there, but you can still see a lot. The church itself is very pretty on the inside, with an incredible painting of Jesus at the very front hall, and the structure is a lovely hallmark of Zwolle.

For those who enjoy the views after a good climb, this is the place to be in Zwolle. The climb is not that high (around 55 meters), but the view over Zwolle is well worth the modest cost (2.5 euros).

It is just a pity that a metal wire net had been installed, I guess to prevent jumps but it also prevents photos with a large lens.

The climb is not very hard but not recommended for the claustrophobic (the staircase is fairly narrow).

Winter opening times are 13:30 to 15:30 (the info on their website is wrong).

Climbed the 236 steps to the top of the tower for a beautiful view. Excellent pictures. Stairs are narrow, short, and dizzying, and there are more than you think wouldn't recommend for small kids or elderly. Inside of the church is beautiful. Well worth a visit.
