Good description of the past.

This museum is situated in an authentic farm ,restored with great attention to details. You can really imagine what life used to be : the living quarters ,stables ,and especially the traditional dresses are all fascinating.
Two kind and knowledgeable ladies answered all our questions.

A special museum in the heart of the Bible Belt

I was in Staphorst last summer ..I recommend visiting the museum in July and August ,on Wednesdays ,when there are open activities in the yard of the old farm .and you can take pictures .Staphorst is a closed protestant village with strict rules ,where 1800 villagers still wear old traditional costumes .On Sunday 2000 villagers go to church ,then you are not allowed to take pictures .
The village is a delight ...I liked the farms ,the green doors ,the local folklore ,the local gardens full of flowers .The museum is a picture of an old farm ,like a Dutch painting ...you can visit the village in an hour .

This town is worth a quick visit!

We drove through this beautiful little town to catch a glimpse of the townspeople who still dress in traditional Dutch clothing. It reminded me a bit of an Amish village in the United States. Even driving through is worth it because the little gingerbread type houses with immaculate yards and green shutters was beautiful.

We wanted to see more and so we stopped at the museum which told about the faith and traditions of those who resided here. It happened to be closed on Monday, but the ladies still let us in to take a peek. It was worth it because we were able to take a picture with one of the ladies. They don't like getting their pictures taken just walking around, But at the museum it was ok. They didn't speak English, which was a first for us in Holland. It was very small but would have been interesting to me had it been open.
