This is an absolute must. If you love boutiques that are independent that offer unique ideas, this is the place to come. The owner is extremely friendly and handcrafts the soaps (as well as other gifts) in the shop. It is small and fully packed with wonderful gifts that will make you want to spend more time in the shop (although it is not that big). We were going to purchase three bars of the hand soap as well as some other items when she suggested that we would save money and have more buy purchasing one of the bungles. We were not disappointed - these are amazing. The Bunzlau Castle soap dish was the perfect addition to our sink area. This is what boutique shopping is all about!!!

Even as we approached the shop with Millij, our dog, we were greeted in a very friendly manner, encouraging us to pick her up and it was okay to browse the shop!

Before we leave Giethoorn we were looking for a souvenir shop . We stepped in and we were surprised by the products that this shop have. it's all hand made gifts and when we asked about small magnetic souvenir the owner lady told us that they only sell handmade souvenir at their shop. the shop has many creative things to choose from and the owner was extremely friendly and you can tell that she is interested of what she is doing .

Was taking a stroll in giethoorn when I chanced upon this shop. Went in to take a look at the gifts and before I left, I took a picture of their front yard which had some porcelain birds on a tree (not even of the items inside the shop, mind you). The female shop owner shouted loudly from inside ‘no pictures!’ So fine, I stopped but I took pictures of the view of houses opposite the canal.
Then 2 white tourists came in and the shop owner was telling them loudly about how ‘Asian people are ALL THE SAME’. That we ‘STEAL HER IDEAS AND ARE THIEVES’, that she is ‘SICK OF ASIANS’. I think the owner didn’t think we would understand English. I did not hear this as I was busy changing my camera lens, but my friend who was beside me did. If I had heard it, I would have confronted the owner. She needs to educate herself about Asia and not make generic and stereotypical statements about Asians and telling her customers wrong facts. There are Asian countries that are financial and medical hubs. We did not make our living selling pottery and crafts. Why would we want to steal your ideas?? Besides, I did not even attempt to take pictures inside the shop!!!!! I was already outside and thought the porcelain birds in her yard make a good picture with the canal in the background. Being avid travellers, we love to share beautifully taken pictures with our friends.
Based on the pictures submitted on trip advisor, the owner is obviously ok with white tourists taking pictures of her shop but Asians are not allowed coz we are all ‘THIEVES’ in her opinion. She probably thinks all Asians cannot understand English as she was telling the white tourists how disgusting Asians are LOUDLY as though we were still not outside her shop. By the way, while I was there, a large part of the visitors were Asians. I’m sure Asian tourists contributed much to her revenue. If she is earning her money from Asians, she should learn to have some manners. On one hand earning money from Asians, and then dissing them loudly the next instance. Definitely a shop I would give a miss. Don’t need the insults to spoil my trip to giethoorn.

This place along the narrow canal walk had some nice items. But the main thing is that the people were super super nice. The nicest people that I met in the Netherlands.
