The Zandvoort promenade is perfect for long walks along the beach without entering the sandy beach, all year round!

We flew into Amsterdam, and decided to drive to the beach before we went to our downtown hotel. Only about a 25 minute drive from the airport and a nice relaxing afternoon. Unlike most American beaches, which are pretty empty at the end of October, this beach was full of visitors walking along the shore. We even saw some people... More

We took a direct train from Amsterdam Centraal here and hired 2 bikes for 30 euro. Cycled to Haarlem via a couple of lovely little towns (brilliant toasties at a little place next to the station in Overgreen? spelling?) looked round the beautiful city of Haaarlem and then cycled back through the national park. It was a stunning day -... More

Stopped off for a couple of hours on the way back to the ferry. Clean, plenty of places to eat, long walk down to the beach & back, car parking looks limited, hundreds of spaces for bikes, scooters, motorcycles. Will be looking in on next visit to Holland

zandvoort is only 30 minutes away from amsterdam central by train. it has a great strand which stretches from the centre of town up to the circuit race track. there are great bars which line the strand along the beach with various food stands selling fresh seafood. the town centre has a couple of supermarkets and in the centre itself... A nice town, very clean and tidy, good range of shops and supermarkets, very light traffic with a great campsite at the far end of town past the racing circuit.

Many people know Zandvoort as an overcrowded beach with loads of German tourists and little charm. I will tell you that if you just turn a corner or take a walk, there is a different Zandvoort to discover. Here is my top 3, in random order 1. Stroll through the small but charming old fisherman town. The 19th century grand... More

Hollands best kept secret. It's a gem of a place. Excellent cycling only 40 miles from the hook so an easy ride. We did a few days there. Absolutely heading back and if you had glorious sunshine it would be an ideal summers break also. Good shopping and easy links to Haarlem and dam.
