This is a review of the Zaanse Museum itself, not the whole complex. You'll see it just as you get off the bus. If you have an I Amsterdam card, it's free. The museum is a well-designed overview of the area's industrial past, which unless you're Dutch you're probably not familiar with. Read through the displays and understand why those... More

Because Museumkaart holders had free entry to the museum, we decided to visit it and were pleasantly surprised. The museum has laid out how this region became the industrial powerhouse in its time and how it inspired many painters including Claude Monet. The biscuit and chocolate factory museum attached to it has some fun games and the child in me... More

This is a must see Windmill Museum ! I understand that these windmills have been moved to this location from all around the Netherlands so visitors can see up close these amazing working machines ! Also there are exhibits with wooden shoe makers & cheese making demonstrations . All these are fun & very interesting. There are gift shops &... More

Worth the visit, you can buy de 15 euro card. The museum and the village is very nice. Good for kids and to shop souvenirs. They charge you the parking. :( 6-9euro.

This museum tells about products from the area. Probably more interesting to the Dutch who know these products, but I, an American, who had never heard of any of these products, found it interesting as well. There is a second section of the museum which tells how Verkade chocolate is made. There are free cookies to sample at the very... More

Nice small cozy museum, a bit of history, paintings, and smithing, includes the chocolate and biscuit museum as well. The first is boring for children, the chocolate and biscuit will keep the little ones entertained with some interactive displays or painting their own chocolate bar wrapping.

Wonderful displayed selection of items, paintings, etc. History comes to life and information about technical, industrial, social and cultural things to know is made clear.

The museum is well worth visiting. It has a rich assortment of items depicting life in the Zaandam area and how it was a key industrial area in the Netherlands. The adjacent Chocolate factory is also a nice exhibit.

The Zaans Museum is a small interesting museum outlining the importance of the area in Dutch industrial history. The exhibits are very informative as is the audio tour which is available in many languages. The Verkade portion of the museum is a reconstruction of the famous cookie and chocolate factories in Zaandam. It's an interesting view into the past. The... More
