This lovely park + castle is definitely worth the detour! It is, as another reviewer has noted, located opposite the famous Keukenhof flower gardens, but the two are completely distinct venues.

The Keukenhof castle, which is pleasantly intimate, has nice views over the park and can be visited in a guided tour. Since only a limited number of people can be admitted every time (tours start once an hour), you are strongly advised to book ahead via the URL of the castle (www.kasteelkeukenhof.nl). Each year a curator selects modern art and sculptures for a summer exhibition, which blends in magnificently with the original furniture and atmosphere in the recently restored castle.

You can also buy a ticket for the park only. It has several gardens, one of them a secluded one with a lovely little place (Frederikshof) for a coffee or a glass of wine. The premises also sport more woody sections. Over the past few years, good sculpture exhibitions have proved an extra incentive to visit.

Apart from the Frederikshof, there is a small tea-house, which seems to be not always open though. There is also a fine building, with an enclosed outdoor terrace and former stables, which can be rented for family and business events.

Finally, Keukenhof castle regularly organizes other cultural activities, such as concerts.

On sunny days, one can bike to Keukenhof from Haarlem station in 60-80 minutes along two routes (Herenweg or along the water, partly Leidsevaart). The bus to Leiden (no. 50) also comes close. Moreover, the venue has a sizable parking lot.

One of the best-kept cultural secrets in the Haarlem area, the Keukenhof castle definitely deserves a visit.

We were looking forward to attending this Christmas market as the ones we have been to in Germany were high quality and excellent. This was not in either of these categories. Not a Merry Christmas from one individual not even at the entrance. Low quality stands and quite frankly a stay away recommendation from me. The Christmas markets in Belgium and Fermany are far superior.

An amazing place set in beautiful gardens. The castle itself is spectacular and full of amazing stories. The tour could do with a little work, especially for those visitors who don't speak Dutch. The castle is not friendly for wheelchair users or those who would struggle with narrow and steep stairs.

Fot the 10th year we were at the Castlefest. Its a nice, relax, friendly fair. There alot of different stands with anything you find. Like : larp weapons, larp clothing, larp accessories, fantasy items, movies, books, pagan cothing, gems, crystals, statues, insence, games, boardgames, collectables, jewelry and lots more. When you're hungry you can choose from a lot of different foods. From pig on a spit, vegetarian, fresh fruit, crepes, meat on a stick, gsrlicbread and lots more. Th Mead there is the best 😊 The concerts are also in a big variety with bands like the dolmen, corvus corax, heilung, ye banished privateers, sunfire and also lots more. The atmosphere there is really relax, as most people there are Pagans, cosplayers, larpers. And are really enjoying a litte vacation / time out of the stress of the "real" world.

As a tour group we visited the famous gardens of this castle when the tulips and daffodils were in full bloom. What a spectacle. It was an amazing 3 hours. I highly recommend going if just doing the gardens. There are lakes, lots of greenery and beautiful swans in the lakes. They also have a petting zoo, a conservatory of flowers, and swings and slides for the kids. Definitely a must see if in the area.

I had the opportunity to walk from the gardens to the castle in early May 2014. So glad I visited! It's a little pricey €5 for the grounds even if the castle isn't open. I went too late to see the inside of the castle unfortunately. But I was glad to see the grounds and walk around. Well worth the 5 minute walk from the front gate of the gardens.

My peace of mind in Lisse. The Castle and the woods are so beautifully layed out, you feel like your are in another time. I walk with my dog daily, and we both enjoy the beauty. A wonderful place to clear your mind..

The Keukenhof castle is right across from the old entrance of the Keukenhof park where in earlier times the buses parked.
There is an exposition inside one can visit with a guided tour. Unfortunately we were late for this. The park is great wiht many sculptures. They are remaking the different buildings in the park.
We liked this visit a lot

Many visitors to the Keukenhof just go to the flower garden and than you missed part of the history as just across the road there is the Keukenhof Castle. Not really a castle but a look-a-like mansion, where famous Dutch aristocrates used to live. It's a beautiful surrounding and if the flowers are blossoming you can take super pictures. Please note the castle is NOT always open to visitors only on special days or occasions.
