Jeroen is such a charismatic guy, one can’t help but have a great time on his canal tour. He masterfully switched back and forth between English and Dutch during the tour while effortlessly navigating down little canals and waving to all the folks he knows in town. In our party of four, after three weeks touring France and Holland, two said this canal tour was a highlight for the whole trip! That’s a testament to how fun the owner made the experience. And, the price is a bargain!

The best canal cruise of the several I have done on this trip to Europe. The open boat was beautiful and Jeroen not only handled it exceptionally well but his commentary (in English and Dutch) was interesting and informative with lots of suggestions of places to go/eat that only locals really know about. And because it was smaller than the large semi open cruisers it could enter so,e of the smaller and I think more interesting canals.

This is by far one of the best canal tours ever! It was the highlight of our trip! Not only is the city perfect for this type of sightseeing but the intimate open boat makes it really special. The owner/guide is extraordinary! He has a passion for his city and wants all his guests to get off well informed on all the sights and historical data. He is fluent in many languages and goes from one language to another in order to accommodate the various tourists on board. The cost is $18 p/p and reservations are recommended

Amazing tour of Haarlem from the boat! Jeroen was very knowledgeable about the city and it's history, and doesn't hesitate to share about interesting local places in Haarlem.
As I was the only guest on board, we even made a small detour to get a cup of coffee and visited the Amsterdam Gate! Definitely the highlight on my visit to Haarlem. Will come back again with friends next time!

What a find , a lovely way to see the city and a bargain price. Our captain even had sun cream available. We were welcomed aboard like royalty and then entertained with a fascinating historic tour. No trouble if you wanted to pause to take photos and the knowledge of our host quite remarkable. This was certainly the high point of our holiday , in fact the following day Jeroen recognised us and gave us a wave which was pretty amazing given that the city is full of tourists. Thank you for our memories. The Liverpool crew.

A fantastic 75 minutes aboard Cornelia with her friendly and engaging skipper Jerome (very English approximation). We learned a heck of a lot about this bewitching city while motoring around the canal system. Truly time we’ll spent. We heartily recommend this experience.

We had a really relaxing and informative tour of the canals of Haarlem with Jeroen. Our tour was in English, which Jeroen speaks fluently. We were lucky, perhaps, that we had the whole tour to ourselves (probably because Holland were playing the Euros!) and so we could ask all the questions we wanted, but Jeroen answered them all, and provided lots more information about the city's history and architecture. The tour started with a trip to a restaurant where someone was waiting to pass a tray with our drinks orders (an unexpected bonus), and then we spent a very pleasant 75 mins taking in the sights.
We would highly recommend Jeroen as a knowledgeable and respectful guide.

Jeroen was so knowledgeable and was able to share personal stories, experiences and the local history in a clear and interesting way.
He has a lovely manner and the 75 minutes flew by. The boat is small, and this makes the experience intimate and more personal. I would highly recommend this tour

Hi, we are planning to visit Haarlem midth of August and we wondering whether it is possible to do a canal tour then. We are 9 people and would love to do it, in case it is possible due to Corona. you can already evaluate whether this could be possible (I know it is hard to say for sure, but maybe you have an estimate). I wish you all the best, Yvonne

Dear Yvonne,
Thank you for your message and how nice that you would like to do a canal tour. Due to the COVID-19 crisis one of the official rules in the Netherlands is that people who are not from the same household, have to maintain distance of at least 1.5m towards each other. My open boat 'The Cornelia' is to small for 9 guests to keep this required distance of 1.5m.
Based on the permit and a safety protocol the Harbor Authorities decreed Haarlem Canal Tours special dispensations to offer small scale private canal cruises based on max. 4 guests. Until the 1.5m regulations are eased, I am not able to offer scheduled canal tours and it is very hard to make any prediction how the situation is going to be in mid August.
Of course we can make a reservation without engagement and see how things are developing. Do you already have a specific date and departing time in mind?
Thank you, goodnight & with kind regards, Jeroen

Do you send a reservation confirmation email? The process to reserve payment and thus a place in the boat, through VISA verification requires generation of a password. How do travelers know if this process was successful? Thank you in advance.

Dear Kimberly,
I'm glad it worked out and It was my pleasure to welcome you and your friend aboard of 'The Cornelia'.
Best regards, Jeroen

Does anyone know if you can do a day tour on a canal boat (longboat) in either France, Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands? We will be in Europe for 6 weeks in Sept/Oct 2016, but do not want to do an overnight or 6 day cruise. We are looking for something on the old style barge boats. I have searched the internet, but only keep finding cruises of say 6 nights or more. Any information would be appreciated.
