One of my favourite little squares in Haarlem. Lots of cute cafes and restaurants dotted around, the falafel place in particular is excellent. Great people watching spot!

Botermarkt is a nice little Square. There was a market on the day we visited and we presume it must be a regular thing. There are many cafes, restaurants, bars, gift and other shops around. You cannot get bored. The Grote Markt is much bigger by comparison, but this Market may be smaller, but we feel it's probably got it all!

Compared to its bigger neighbour (Grote Markt) we prefer this cobbled square. The size of it lends itself to more character and the bars / cafes spilling out over two sides add to this. there is usually a fish stall there where local congregate to get their fill of herring: do try this ! And eat it anyway you want. You don't have to down it in one go (as some locals will try to get you to do).
