One of the interesting historic buildings at Grote Markt is the Stadhuis (City Hall). Presently the Haarlem Tourist Office can be found at Stadhuis. Opening hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm on Monday to Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sundays.

Historically, there have been buildings here since at least 1100. The present building dates back to the first half of the 14th-century and is medieval in form. Stadhuis also impressively features an early 17th-century facade and tower Dutch Renaissance and Classicist in style.

We enjoyed viewing the Stadhuis exterior during our visit to Grote Markt. We also found the Tourist Office within a useful place to pick up self-walk tour maps, brochures and general information about Haarlem. This was a worthwhile place to visit at the beginning of our day trip to Haarlem from Amsterdam.

The City Hall includes some lovely very old brick buildings, an art space, a green courtyard and the functions of the city. Loved the design.

This is one of several beautiful buildings that surround Grote Markt. Today it houses the Tourist Information Office.

Pretty old building on the market square. Creates a good anchor for the surrounding guild buildings and market halls.

The Grote Markt is the central point in town so you will pass through dozens of times during your stay here. Full of lovely gabled Dutch buildings - this is just one of them

It's not the most grand town hall in Europe but it has been enhanced by a backdrop of a beautiful church tower. It also faces the square of Grote Markt so it's popular among locals and tourists.

See the old building with an impressive facade right on the main square, and imagine the weddings taking place inside. Afterwards, the bride and groom would be happily waving from the balcony to the guest gathered outside.

Hopefully you will find a parade like I did. It was very cute to hear music and ser a band. Very good place to take a nice picture, not a crowded city

The city's Town Hall is a lovely building with beautiful architecture. It's been there for a while, as it is said to have been built around the 14th century! It's still in use today, as the local government meets there and civic receptions and other ceremonies take place there. There is a Market that takes place outside, in front of the building, about twice a week, I think. Quite fascinating. The building is nicely decorated and it contains a number of paintings and other objects, and offers an interesting insight into the history of the city.

The town hall, a rectangular building with battlements and towers, was built in a Dutch Renaissance style. The façade is displayed in a classicist style. We went through the gate and visited the courtyard. In the courtyard is a bronze sculpture of a globe.
