We were looking around and as everything was in Dutch , we thought it wasn't going to be very interesting to us. All of a sudden Marcel appeared and guided us through the entire fort. Explaining the history in detail and with such passion. We really enjoyed our visit to the Fort, thanks to Marcel

Fort Kijkduin was built by Napoleon after the failed Anglo-Russian invasion of North-Holland. It has undergone a few transformations since then, with the lighthouse being removed and rebuilt a little further on the dunes. Different rooms tell different phases of the history, with a focus on the Napoleonic time and world war 2. A wing and machine gun of a... More

The museum is ok. The building is impressive, the aquarium is nice. The restaurant good. Surrounding nature even better.

My 3 year old enjoyed the aquarium. It's not that big but some nice displays where you can get really close to the fish. The museum looked interesting but all details were in Dutch. It would have been nice if the exhibit details would be in English.

The aquarium was great fun but we were less satisfied with the other part of the museum. We would like to find out the history of the fort since napoleon but it was an unchronological exposition of first and second war items.

I lived in Huisduinen when I was growing up. At the time the facility was qualified as military. Nice to see it open to the public. A lot of money was spend on cleaning up the fort, however needs more money spend to bring it up to scratch. Nice museum. Great views.

I visited this location with my son. We walked all around the grounds and saw all the history that the fort has to offer. There was also a small aquarium on the grounds, and seeing some of the aquatic life that is right next door is also an engaging experince for the kids and adults alike. I will be going... More

We saw the museum only, it was pretty good. There are a lot of museums in Den Helder. This one was devoted mostly to militaria.

I visited here with my cousins who had been there before but according to them the entire operation has gone downhill. Even though the money isnt there to improve the facilities and maintain it effectively, i still enjoyed the visit. The museum is small but pretty cool because it is in the old fort and is very diverse. The aquarium... More
