The sign is already removed from the museum quarter. A smaller version is now only at the airport. This was done because the sign was attracting too much crowd. Don't waste your time people

Tip: go EARLY before everyone else gets there if you want a solo shot. It's right in the museum district, so a great opportunity if you are going to the Riks or Van Gogh Museum. In the winter, the shallow reflection pool is turned into...More

Please note, the iconic I AMsterdam sign in front of the Rijskmuseum has been removed by the municipality! The green-left city council felt it was too much an expression of individuality - you can argue about that, but it is probably true that Amsterdam has...More

Very busy and crowded , unable to take a picture without at least 2 or 3 other people being in it. Worth the visit to say you’ve been especially if your near the Rijks museum.

The „I Amsterdam“ sculpture is situated right behind the Rijksmuseum and attracts tourists and visitors from all over the world, which make a foto session there - very lively and intercultural! ;-) Fun place to be and the sculpture is cool for various kinds of...More

This is a very large sign in the middle of the square. It's not really a tourist attraction unless you want to try to take a picture. Just be prepared to have other people in your picture unless you go when everyone else is asleep....More

Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part
of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh
Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed
museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you
need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the
Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark,
the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand
connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping

Van Gogh Museum on a Saturday morning in June? (1 Replies)
Hi, just wondering how busy this will be if we go around 11 am. I've read some posts here about the queue's, etc., and wondering if 11 am is early enough to avoid the worst of it. Don't mind waiting in line a little (we will have the I Amsterdam cards, if that makes any difference), but does it get so crowded inside that it is hard to see the paintings? My daughter & I are coming into Amsterdam that morning, and trying to get the Van Gogh out of the way before hubby's flight arrives in...More

Hard to say. Negate your worries by buying a ticket online. The queues are normally for the ticket office anyway.

Museumkaart or I Amsterdam Card? (7 Replies)
Hi, My partner and I will be in Amsterdam for 5 days over Christmas. We are not sure whether to buy the I Amsterdam Card as the most it lasts is 3 days, however, it does include travel. What sort of dicounts are available at other attractions with those not free entrance museums with the Museumkaart? Are most museums within walking distance or would it be best to use public transport? Is there an equivalent of a travel card and how much are they? Any advice much appreciated. ...More

We recently returned from Amsterdam and found the 3 day I Amsterdam card very convenient. It was nice to have the unlimited transit pass as the weather is rather cool and it was nice to be able to hop on and off trams even for a short ride to get out of the cold. The Anne Frank House is not included with the card, so we saw that and did some shopping and other wandering around on our extra day since the card was only good for 3 days. We saw several smaller museums that we would not have...More
