About
Experience Amsterdam from the water with an open sloop. From the boat you will have the best view of the picturesque capital. The captain will also act as your guide and has endless stories to tell about the places of interest in Amsterdam that you will pass by. Furthermore, because it operates on electricity, it is also sustainable.

Great tour. Our boat pilot Stephen was very knowledgable about lots of aspects of Amsterdam including historical and cultural events. He had a great sense of humour and really brought life into the trip. If you go in the winter make sure to wrap up warm in waterproof clothing. It rained heavily during parts of our tour and if I had not had the correct clothing I would have been freezing. Stephen did supply umbrellas and even parked the boat under a bridge to keep us as dry as possible. Highly recommend.

To avoid crowdy streets and sidewalks, boat trip is great alternative. Boat trip gives you better view/perspective on the buildings and city, you can rest sitting in the boat and having drink and snack at the same time as well as learn Amsterdam’s history interestingly provided by the guide. I strongly recommend this during sunny day.

We liked the „Open Boat“-Design and the live guide more than the other tourist boats with audio guides - thats why we payed a little more. Our captain was really friendly and did know a lot about the canals, buildings etc. and had a lot of local tips for us.
All in all it was a nice way to end our day in Amsterdam and we would really recommend the tour if you want to see Amsterdam „off the beaten path“

A really excellent, beautifully run boat tour with an engaging guide (Stephan) who was funny, informed and clearly loves his city. The boat itself was beautiful with lovely touches like hot chocolate, blankets and gluwein to keep us warm. We were there to see the Amsterdam Light Festival which was extremely thought-provoking but there was so much more to the tour than just the artwork. We learned loads about the city, about the Netherlands and about the 'Dutchies' - we laughed a lot!

we had a great and unique tour with Open Boat on 07/17/2020 (11:10 a.m.), unfortunately I don't know the name of our captain anymore, but he made the trip a unique experience. In fact it was my fourth boat tour in Amsterdam and this was by far the best tour: lots of special information, answers to all questions, exciting historical backgrounds. Open Boat Tours is a real Amsterdam highlight: because you can experience the city from the water and have no disruptive windows. In addition, the boats are rather small, so there is a very pleasant atmosphere. See you again next time! :-)

We (3 people) were standing in line to see if an open boat tour was available. Unfortunately it was not. As we turned around I understood the spanish employee say to the next person (also 3p) in line that the boat was full but to immediately say they would squeeze them in. The people didn't have a ticket either. We turned around to ask why they were allowed and us not, but only got any uninterested sorry. Terrible service would not recommend. We went to flagship next to it instead and had a lovely tour with a funny guide instead!

This is an absolutely MUST do tour when in Amsterdam!!! Ignore the $14.90 euro prices and find this open boat place. The price is a little more, $23.50 euros, but you're not encumbered by glass roof over the boat which makes viewing and picture taking a TON better!!! We were blessed with a phenomenal skipper who was funny, knowledgeable, and very entertaining. We learned quite a bit about the city and how it was built and had a blast!!!! Definitely a highlight of our visit!!

The boat experience was our favourite part of the our trip. We had a really friendly and nice boat captain named Sharon. She was very open to answer all our questions and told us interesting facts about Amsterdam. Even my 6-year-old really enjoyed the whole open boat tour. If you are ever in Amsterdam I can really recommend this tour and if you are lucky you’ll have the same boat captain as we had.

My girlfriend and I were recently in Amsterdam. We didn't want to do 'tourist' stuff .... but we did go on a canal cruise. We are glad we did. Perfect day! . What made the trip so enjoyable was 'Harry' the driver/captain. He was charming , informative and quite funny. Always helpful with answering questions and taking the extra time in spots where the passengers appreciated most.

Great tour. Our guide Stephan was very knowledgeable and had good information to share about Amsterdam and other little known facts. We went on a colder evening, he provided us with blankets. There was a possibility of rain and had umbrellas onboard also just in case. Good time. Thanks.

I will be staying at Amsterdam 1052 GP; what would be the closet location to board for the open boat tour? How often do the tours run? When is the last tour of the day?
Written July 9, 2019
The company website has information like that and numbers you can call for more information. I would recommend going directly to the company to get accurate info. As a customer, I am not the best person to answer that.

Hoi,
Hoeveel mensen zitten er in een boot? Is het mogelijk dit met 4 mensen te doen? Welke talen zijn er beschikbaar?
Alvast bedankt voor het antwoord op deze vragen!

Hi, we went to the address in Leidesplein and booked on the spot. However, you can book online using the Stromma website or try calling the number below during office hours. Leidse bosje 2, 1054 LJ Amsterdam, Netherlands

We chose the open boat, 19.50 Euros per person, 75 mins in small open boat. You can choose the larger covered boat if the weather is not so good when you book.

Hello Martin - The tour we took was an open boat with approximately 12 passengers. The guide was excellent as was the tour. Not sure about any private tours. Enjoy Amsterdam!

It is showing that you're booked through 2018. Is this an error? I wanted to make a reservation for 3 this weekend preferably tomorrow? Is there any availability?
Written November 24, 2016
Dear Deeran,
Sorry we didn't catch your question earlier!
During the fall/winter season we do not operate Open Boat Tours, except for during the Amsterdam Light Festival. We hope you found a nice alternative.
