Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

We were recommended this by a waitress as somewhere to hear Dutch music and what a palace of chintz. Very lively and full of locals having a great sing along to euro pop well worth a visit

Café Nol has a classic Jordaan atmosphere and runs as a party-café from 21.00hrs

Receipt is friendly and the door man keeps control. Tips for the coat- hanger and doorman are expected.

Beer can be ordered in a crate by ringing a classic bell, wine is served in 70’s wine glasses.

As a foreigner you will not understand any song, but if your rythm will be OK, so will you.

Dutch folklore music, singing along out aloud while partying traditional-Dutch style. Fun for some hours. Then run away and never get back :-)

Actually u need to pass at least B1 level of dutch if u want to go inside. The security will ask u before if u are able to speak dutch, how long have u been living in Amsterdam..100% rude attitude. I felt so unwelcome.Just wanted to have a beer in a nice local bar next to my flat. But the staff was rude. They should not treat customers in this way. After we “passed” the interrogation in front of the door the lady in the clock room tried to take off my jacket immediately and screamed at me that we need to take off our jackets. The clock room was empty and some people wore jackets inside as well. Please, keep the rules the same for everyone. I sense a kind of racism here and do not feel welcome due to not being native dutch. Sad experience.

Two euros for a glass of water (small), only one kind of beer, supremely rude service.
If you're looking for a pub the area is full of nice places, you can find better!

For a Dutch place it was crowded with disrespectful marocans.... It was the worst experience ever... Especially after hearing so many good/ positive things about cafe Nol.... Unfortunately, we had the opposite experience ... Never Again... The place is not Dutch, but marocan...
What a huge dissapointment

My wife and I visited here for the second time on our recent trip to Amsterdam. Fantastic bar with live singers. Atmosphere is great and full of locals who are having a good time.

Ended up here by chance! We were told about this place by a local waiter at a near by restaurant so headed over. You can't miss it at night! Bright pink neon lights outside... and the inside is pretty similar!
Very busy inside and was slightly intimidating at first but before we knew it we were up dancing eating nibbles at the bar and drinking all night! An amazing atmosphere and genuinely a hidden treasure!

We were taken here by some locals we ran into. It is a pretty surreal place with the pink lights, the older bartenders and the dude singing traditional dutch songs. It is rather small with a crowd of mostly locals. We ended up dancing on the tables, drinking ice cold Amstel and socializing with the locals. It really was a one-of-a-kind experience. Check it out if you're up for one crazy night and some local feel.

We were a group of foreigners, despite all living in Amsterdam, and we were treated differently than other locals. We know this as we asked them what they had! Higher prices for less beer, two euros for a glass of water with more ice than water. The waitress was extremely rude both getting our orders and afterwards, just to add bad to bad things.

Never, ever again!!
The surroundings are full of other pubs, just go to another one!
