The area
Neighborhood: De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.

This statue stands in tribute to Andre Hazes, a Dutch singer of sentimental folk songs. From what I've read, he had quite a successful career than spanned four decades.
The statue is a somewhat unflattering, kitsch sculpture of a overweight man in his middle-age. He is seated on aa stool and belting out one of his famous folk some.
I wouldn't go out of the way to see this unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

Located within Albert Cuyp, stands this memorial, to a famous dutch singer, probably not a stand alone attraction, however, something to see whilst visiting the market.

as monuments go, this was interesting. the detail was good. Andre is an Amsterdam icon, and this monument keeps his memory alive. It is also a good landmark for meeting friends

Andre Hazes Monument was a reveered and much loved Dutch folk singer whose statue looks superb .
The statue shows the entertainer in an animated pose and makes for some good photographic opportunities.
The statue is found on Albert Cuypstraat in the wonderful De Pijp district and not to far from the famous market.
Well worth checking out.

Andre Hazes was, is still, an icon, the world is missing a very talented dutch folk singer. Pretty statue, it shows Andre in his typical style, one can almost hear him belt out "Kleine jongen" (Little boy) or "Zij gelooft in mij"b(She believes in me), it does credit to the neighborhood to honor him in this way.

It is a statue of "Andre Hazes", a Dutch folk singer. The location is at Albert Cuyp market. Andre was not so big (tall) but this statue is smaller than the person. If you're at the market, come take a look but if not, no need to find this statue unless you're a fan

One of the most iconic Dutch slingers must be André Hazes. Everyone is familiar with his music and in the pubs, they often play his music, we like! So to honour him: this statue.

I fell in love with the voice and the passion behind it on first hearing his music. I play if often and just had to seek out his monument in the Pijp district during a recent visit to Amsterdam.
It`s life like and fixe and almost at eye level.

I have to admit that I'd walked past this statue several times with no real idea of who this singer was. It is only after reading the other reviews on Trip Advisor that I have a better idea, although I am still totally unfamiliar with his music. The statue is erected right at eye level, which is unusual.
