Popped in here after the A'DAM Lookout for some dinner and it was packed - but the lovely waitress found us a seat. Although busy, the service was amazing, alongside delicious tapas style food and wonderful vibes from the place! All types of people there, a really pleasant place to dine - overlooking the water of course. Pricey but well worth it food.

If you need to try all the delights, then the lunch plate is the pick. The look is superb, the taste was exceptional and the amount of food was nearly over the top. I’m not complaining as we finished it all.

I like the food, but acoustics are quite bad. Asked for a quiet place and they did whatever they could to give us the best possible place which we liked a lot

Made a quick stop here during our visit to Amsterdam.

We jumped on the free boat across the water and thought we would give it a try.

The waitress was nice and friendly and took our order.

We sat outside and enjoyed some shade from the sunny weather.

It wasn’t too busy and we enjoyed chilling for a bit.

Not a big selection of beer unfortunately.

Staff inside were not very friendly. I asked where the toilet was and didn’t get a very friendly response. Sorry guys but it’s not clear from the outside where the toilets are and I’m sure the whole 10 seconds it took you to respond to me, really set your work schedule back especially as the place had no one inside and only a couple of people outside.

Worth a visit, but don’t ask where the toilets are!

The view's great, and the food is quite nice. As others have written, it's 'small plates'. They're pretty tasty, but the selection means you're eating things that don't really go together (Italian and Asian, for instance).

However the service was really terrible. The drinks order was mixed up. Two people from our group of 4 ordered an advertised 'selection' of 5 dishes. One dish didn't arrive. We asked about it and told it was being prepared (it was a salad). It never arrived. I ordered dumplings, and they arrived stuck to a piece of greaseproof paper in a steamer basket. When I tried to lift them out the bottom and most of the filling stayed on the paper. I asked about this and was told that was the way they always were. They were taken away and someone was supposed to come back to take an order for an alternative dish. No one ever came (the staff were inattentive throughout and you couldn't easily get their attention).

Consequently, I only had one small plate, my mother chose just one small plate. You're recommended to have 2 - 3, but it ended up with only 1.25 dishes each mainly because of their incompetence.

The excuse was that they were busy - but we arrived later in the evening and tables were emptying out and few new people coming in. By the time we had gone through all this, we were losing the will to live, let alone to order and wait for more food.

The staff took off a bit of money for the dish that didn't arrive, but added in another dish that was nearly as expensive. With 4 drinks between 4 people (2 of these non alchoholic) and not enough food for any of us, the bill was still around €90. I'm not going back.

We sat with 5 friends on the first floor with great views on Het IJ and Amsterdam Central Station.
The food was good and the service was fast ..within 45 minutes we had our dinner served and consumed since we were of the the Movies.
Pricing is ok considering the rations and the location.
After the movies we got back and have some nice local beers.

The Share & Enjoy formula bring you some nice small dishes, cold or warm, veggie, fishie, meatie. Great location, mainly locals, on the opposite side of the river, just take the free 3 minute ride with the ferry from the central station backside. The (white) wine on the list was great.

We ate here with family and were easily seated (did phone beforehand) with 10 people at a large table next to the immense green wall (life!). But tables on the other (window) side are good too, especially during the day with splendid views across the IJ to Amsterdam centre's low skyline.
The idea is to share the food with your friends. So that everyone can taste something different. A sort of post-modern variation of the "rijsttafel". Food is varied (vegetarian, fish, meat) from classic Dutch (the "kroket" of course) to more exotic (Indonesian ingredients) or French inventions (melted goat cheese). Great desserts too. Indeed a bit more expensive then elsewhere, but that's the price for creativeness...
Service is done by young people (all English speaking too) with sometimes a little mix-up (mussels / scallops) which was easily corrected. All very swift and efficient.
A very nice place to eat. Better call in advance. No cash taken only creditcards.
Also good for after the fantastic film museum next door.

Hi, I was visiting Amsterdam , and my best friend recommended this restaurant. I love to go to new restaurants, , so this was a real treat to take the free ferry at the back of Central Station, Amsterdam, to the North of Amsterdam .
The Tolhuistuin, was lovely an quiet, and I thought, no need to make a reservation,as the restaurant had a huge amount of seating .
By the time we were leaving the place was packed.
The food was absolutely brilliant.

I really enjoyed the food at this tapas-style restaurant, and there was a wide range of dishes to choose from. Some were a little tastier than others (loved the fish and chips and sweet potato wrap, less sure about the legume pressé) but there was something to suit everyone.

The service wasn't the best I've ever had - we arrived a little early, were told to wait at the bar, but weren't informed when our table was ready - but once we sat down and ordered it arrived fairly quickly.

The selection of desserts didn't quite match up to the mains, and there was much less that appealed, but my brownie and ice cream were pleasant enough.

Definitely worth visiting for the convivial atmosphere and the main courses. My gin and tonic was also one of the biggest I've ever seen - always a plus!
