We were a group made of 3 parents and 3 young adults and Rafael Fraga was our guide.

The tour added a lot to what we’ve learnt on our stay in Amsterdam. Without it, we wouldn’t have known half as much about its history, the Dutch culture, the water mastering techniques and many curiosities.

Rafael knows the city and it’s history very well and shares it with great passion. He’s very patient and kept the group in a good mood.

The walk itself was easy but through very nice areas of old Amsterdam.

I strongly recommend this tour if you want to learn more about this amazing city in a joyful walking tour.

On Saturday, April 25, 2015 we had a 13 hour layover in Amsterdam before flying to Dublin. We decided to take advantage of our brief time in this most interesting City.

After reading about the City Free Tour Amsterdam on Trip Advisor, we booked the 'Tip-based Classic Walk' tour a few days ahead online through the company website link and promptly received a confirmation and all the information we needed to meet up with and find the tour, including tips on wearing warm clothing, having some rain protection and good walking shoes. It was a warm, welcoming and professional confirmation letter that was very much appreciated.

After a long overseas night flight and arriving in Amsterdam around 6:30 a.m., we ended up having leisurely coffee and exploring the nicely laid out Schiphol Airport for awhile, deposited our carry-on bags at our nearby airport hotel (Radisson Park Plaza) we'd pre-arranged and taxied to Dam Square to meet our tour which assembled around 11:15 a.m. for the 11:30 tour. It was so very tempting to stay and rest at the hotel, but we carried on and are very happy we did.

Kim was our very personable and articulate guide and took the time to first have some casual introductions as to where everyone was from. It was a very informative tour and the pace was just perfect. We had a few countries represented in our group of about 15 (+ or -), which was very nice. It was a couple of enjoyable and entertaining hours that seemed to fly by.

The City is vibrant and so historically interesting that unless one was visiting for some time, it would be impossible to see all it has to offer in the very short time that we were there. We were thrilled that we could have the opportunity to partake in such a excellent tour that covered so many highlights in a casual, fun and educational way.

As we had a special taxi rate arranged through the airport hotel, Kim took the time at the end of the tour to call them for us on her cell phone as well as making restaurant suggestions nearby. The guides work hard (and have fun) and are definitely deserving of their time and enthusiasm in being tipped appropriately.

We would highly recommend this great tour for anyone visiting that wants to have a little more insight into the history of the beautiful City of Amsterdam. Thanks, Kim!

I think our guide (Jussi - sp?) was on some substance. He would take great pauses when telling about the area, roll a die, & tell ridiculous personal stories. He would just chat & not really give much info about what we were seeing. Terrible.

Our guide Kim gave us a terrific tour of central Amsterdam on a beautiful hot day in late May. Kim was very friendly and made us all feel very welcome as we started the tour. She was very knowledgeable of the history of Amsterdam both ancient and recent. Kim was very tactful and sensitive as we passed thru the red light district and even more so as we contemplated the difficult and terrible history of the Jewish people during WWII. Kim was a lovely guide and I highly recommend her tour as a thorough and interesting introduction to the beautiful city of Amsterdam. Very worthwhile.

I would highly recommend a free walking, especially with Rafael. It was a great way to see the centre of Amsterdam and learn about the history of the buildings and the city. Rafael added his own personal touches with his own stories which made the whole experience even more interesting. He knew his stuff and always had time for questions, the tour wasn’t rushed and so there was plenty of time to take photos. The two hours seemed to slip by very easily. Rafael himself was very warm, friendly and engaging! It was the perfect way to spend our first morning here in Amsterdam. With his recommendations we were able to see other attractions that we hadn’t read about online and would have thus missed.
