Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, lots of delicious Dutch and other European cheeses, all the tasty accompaniments. Spent a fortune on cheese to bring home which they helpfully vacuum packed for me.
Cheese shops are nice places to be whichever country they're in and good for free samples if you're a bit peckish too!

This was a amazing cheese shop to visit. An amazing selection and great service. You can try many of the cheeses and then buy to either consume later or to be packed to bring home. A great selection

We stayed in a nearby BnB and visited the Tromp cheese shop 4 times in 5 days! Their selection of Dutch cheeses is fantastic... and they will provide samples of any and all (plus they have plenty of samples already cut). The guys working in the shop are friendly and knowledgeable. And speak English. You can ask for your cheeses to be vacuum packed to make them easier to take home. Canada allows "hard cheeses" made from pasteurized milk to be carried in when you come home - so don't be afraid to do as we did and bring home 5 different kinds of cheese! MUCH better than buying cheese in the "old town" district or at the airport. If you aren't staying nearby, take the tram and visit the Tromp Cheese store.

Visited Kaashuis Tromp already multiple times for different reasons. The quality and choice of their cheese is outstanding. The sandwiches they make daily are the best to be found in central Amsterdam and lastly, their staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

If you go for a sandwich, I would recommend the ‘Hot Danny’ or the ‘Tromp Burger.

By the way, as a local I would suggest to every tourist to avoid the touristic&overpriced cheese shops in town and just go to this delicate cheese shop!

Do not miss this heavenly spot if you're a cheese person.
Almost like a cheese museum which you can taste at the same time.
Highly recommended

If you're visiting Amsterdam, make time to visit Kaashuis Tromp cheese shop in Utrechtsestraat - not far from Rembrandt Square. Friendly staff, plenty of cheese to taste before you buy, and good value too. We bought an aged Gouda (nothing like the insipid stuff you by in UK supermarkets). First class taste and texture. The staff vaccum packed it there and then for us to bring back on the plane.

I'm now trying to find a way of purchasing it online, but my Dutch isn't good enough.....

Fantastic selection of cheese to include cheeses from France and elsewhere ...which the aussies and americans did not pick up. I brought 2 kg of dutch aged goats cheese...and may have to fly back to Amsterdam to get more !

I have to say that I stood, in awe, took lots of pictures, then bought...cannot recommend more than an hour...not fair on the shop :-)
Now I buy Isle of Mull directly from Isle of Mull...it is fantastic...But Tromp is just sooo good

Dutch Gouda cheese... yes please! The perfect store for cheese lovers. Samples of different gouda and other cheeses. The service by Leeanne was outstanding. Not only was she helpful and informative about the different cheeses, but she also carefully air-tight sealed out cheese purchase... all with a wonderful attitude and smile. American Express is accepted here.
