The House of Bols is the attraction we still mention most frequently after our visit to Amsterdam. The interactivity of the museum is wonderful; from smelling tests to touching or tasting, from videos of historic moments to the very first Genever bottles and recipe, finally culminating in your choice of cocktails and tasters.....a dream in the world of cocktails :)

I was surprised by how technical and serious the bartending was at the end of this tour. The tour itself is just o.k. and the staff doesn't know a whole lot about the technical aspect of distilling. (That's o.k. though, I'm a winemaker/distiller so I have hard questions for them and I don't expect them to have all the answers.)... More

Nothing but a glorified cocktail lounge touting Bols products. I thought they would show how the prodcut was made.

This is odd thing to do, I mean it is not historical or cultural, just total adult fun! The tour is cute... The drinks that included are awesome! You can even do a goofy little video to share on Facebook... If you have the time... Do it!

We really enjoyed our visit here. We used our Holland Pass - very good value for money in itself. The tour is self guided but very interesting and moves along at a good pace. Really enjoyed guessing the different Bols flavours. Was also great to try a free cocktail and wee tots of other flavours at the end. Great fun... More

The tour had very little to it, once you had smelt some of the flavours, thats pretty much it.. The bar staff were very unfriendly. The coctail wasnt well presented or very nice. Its not expensive but I wouldnt waste your time going

A small but interesting venue where you are taken through a series of aromas that make up Bols liquers. Read about the history, finishing off in the Mirror Bar where you can smaple a cocktail and two liquors, included in your admission price.

Had a good time at Bols. I would give it a 4 star rating but the flair bar tending area was closed when I was there. The cocktails are fantastic at the end of the self guided tour. As are the 2 free shots as well :-) Would like to see more interactive elements in the tour. Great Value for... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
