We have been to Amsterdam many times, done the museums and Heineken experience, the House of Bols was fun ,short, and the cocktails after were fantastic. The gift shop was great , I would go back now just to have one of their 5 euro cocktails

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. You go at your own pace, get a good history lesson on the brand and general history of spirits. Cocktail at the end was excellent and you can get more for €5 each which is a bargain tbh! Couldn't fault it, just a shame I couldn't take any bottles home in my hand luggage!

This was interesting and sniffing all the different flavours was a cool challenge. I felt it was quite misleading thinking we would make our own cocktail at the end but in fact it was more of an electronic menu. Luckily it was quiet so the waitress did make me a different one as I didn't like any on the list... More

I found the self guided tour very interesting. I came out wanting to buy so may flavours of bols and make my own cocktails! The bar at the end it's lovely and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Me and my partner even got a free seperate shot along with our cocktails

The bols experience starts off really promising as you get to go in to an interactive room where you can smell and taste the different spirits that they make, but it ends too quickly and there isn't half enough information about who the Bols family were. The cocktail at the end was nice. But 15 was a bit on the... More

A fun visit and informative. I didn't know so many spices went into the distillation of gin. The end was the best. You pick what you like in a drink, aromas, sweet, dry, etc. and they make, you a cocktail. Sebastian was our server. He was very knowledgable and entertaining. He even gave me an extra taste of the gin aged in... More

I must confess that although I like cocktails I didn't realise that this was going to be all about the Bols brand. I had thought that it was more of a museum of the history of cocktails in general. That said it was quite informative and had fun elements such as the scent bottles, museum could have been a bit... More

We stopped into the House of Bols after visiting the nearby Van Gogh Museum. It was a fun interactive self-paced tour, trying to guess lots of different smells. It ends in the bar area with a yummy cocktail of your choosing. You can also print out cocktail recipes. Additional cocktails can be purchased for 5 euro. We enjoyed the experience.

It's a pretty cool place, although may be a bit too costly to some for this amount of information, input and so on. But nice to have a drink in the end.

We visited Bols after spending the afternoon at Van Gogh due to it's nearby location. On their website you can buy entrance tickets in advance for the same price or you can add a blue boat canal tour for an extra 5 Euro and a couple of other combo tickets. You cannot buy the combo tickets at the door but... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
