I visited House of Bols with my partner on 16th August for his birthday. It was fantastic from start to end. The tour is fun and quirky and although we've been before a few years ago all of the activities are equally as fun second time around. The environment is very clean and well presented and the tour alone is... More

An informative and interesting hour or so. The museum is quite small and it doesn't take long to get all the way through. I felt like Charlie Bucket at Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory, there are some activities such as the senses challenge where you have to guess the taste of Bols from smell only. I only made a flying visit... More

Found this by chance in the hop on/ hop off brochure. You get a reduction instead if €16 you get in fir €13.50. This includes the tour which you do yourself with audio. Easy to walk round and understand with lots of interactive stations. The highlight is the bar area. You can choose 1 or approx 18 cocktails for free.... More

We benefitted from the lower cost of 10 Euros for older people, so it all turned out rather good value. The museum part of the experience is very informative about the history of Genever and the Bols Company. It's nice to know that it has moved back to Amsterdam and become an independent company again. There are interactive elements where... More

We have been to Amsterdam many times, done the museums and Heineken experience, the House of Bols was fun ,short, and the cocktails after were fantastic. The gift shop was great , I would go back now just to have one of their 5 euro cocktails

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. You go at your own pace, get a good history lesson on the brand and general history of spirits. Cocktail at the end was excellent and you can get more for €5 each which is a bargain tbh! Couldn't fault it, just a shame I couldn't take any bottles home in my hand luggage!

This was interesting and sniffing all the different flavours was a cool challenge. I felt it was quite misleading thinking we would make our own cocktail at the end but in fact it was more of an electronic menu. Luckily it was quiet so the waitress did make me a different one as I didn't like any on the list... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
