Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Just love this whisky bar.
Cool atmosphere. Very large and fine whisky collection.

You also have a great whisky menu.
Over 2000 bottles. It’s amazing.

A must visit place for whisky lovers.

This place is off the beaten path, yet close to the Rijks Museum... And I tell you what, it is so worth it. Very small and quaint yet the amount of the whisky's from around the world are truly amazing. The bartenders are very knowledgeable, friendly, and the prices are VERY reasonable...not to mention you get to try some very unique, rare, and OLD whisky's you've never heard or seen before. If you're a whisky fan, this is a MUST stop!

I really enjoyed the flights here. The atmosphere is pretty good, too. Be ware of the stairs tho if you stay here awhile! But was a great night out. Warning: does not take cards other than the Maestro card. This allows them to keep prices down, I suppose.

Dark exterior and dark interior and very relaxed, wall to wall whiskey (they do also serve beer) from everywhere. Great place to sit and chill for an hour. Great find.

A must-go for any whisky lover in Amsterdam. Great and extensive selection of whisky. The place itself it's small but lovely, walls full of bottles and a really old-fashion look. Highly recomended.

Amazing whiskey and the setting is just beautiful, definitely the perfect place to go for a romantic tipple or two. The tasting platters are good value for money too.

As with everyone else - this small bar is absolutely the place to visit in Amsterdam if you like Whiskey. They have many hundreds to choose from and if you can stand (and afford it) you could spend many hours in here. Whether you are a connoisseur or just finding what suits your palate, there is a selection for everyone. And, unlike many bars in capital cities around the world - we thought the prices were sensible. You could buy a single of 'standard' whiskey (stuff you could buy from a supermarket) for as little as 4 euros through to 100+ euros for the more specialist and older types. They will set the bottle in front of you if you buy a more expensive glass.
They do sell beer in bottles and draft. The also sell wine - but accordingly to the people we were with - the wine wasn't very good.
The bar itself is tiny and dark with seating for, maybe, 25/30 people; It has 2 entrances and depending on which side of the bar you are on, it's actually easier to walk outside and through the front door nearest the toilets! And, be warned the toilets are up a steep set of stairs (where there is a little bit of additional seating) but for the able bodied only.
We went twice and we were the only tourists in there one night and were in the minority of foreigners the second.
The music comes from a record player and absolutely sets the place. Overall the ambience was very chilled and relaxed.
If there is a negative we found the staff disinterested (until we asked for something a little special) on our first visit and just rude on the second - but you go for the whiskey and I would highly recommend it

Amoungst the hustle and bustle and bright (red) lights of A'dam sits this little gem of a whisky bar. It was a Thursday eve when we visited here so no idea what it's like on the weekend!

My mate had been there before an recommended it.

It was a cold November night that we visited, the sort of night when only a warm glass of whisky will do the trick.

Walking in through the door I was met by the sight of a million bottles (maybe a slight exagiration) and the smell and atmosphere of a traditional quiet English pub (without the boozed up teenagers!). My mate compared it to a ship, which I guess it was a bit, loads of snug corners, candles, low light, just my sort of place really!

We approached the bar tender to enquire as to which of his tipples had a smokey taste, he let us try a few before we decided on an appropriate one to drink. We settled into a corner table and chatted about life and how the girls in the red light district are either beautiful...or not!

Anyway, the bar tender was a very knowledgable dude, he had a lovely deminour, knew his whisky and definitely helped the place keep its chilled out vibe.

I cannot stress how lovely this place was, think, cosy 1930's drinking den, i half expected a couple of spies to turn up and sit in the corner with a couple of glasses of Laphroig whilst they planned where their next dead letter drop should be! The clientelle was varied, you had me and my mate (early-mid 30 somethings, and totally chilled) some mid 20's couples and then a few single blokes with just a book and large jacket for company.

Anyway, if you want a fabulously cosy place to try loads of whisky and do a bit of people watching, go here!
