Address
Neighborhood: De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.

There’s a lovely chilled relaxed vibe, with super friendly staff and plenty of places to sit. Happened to stumble upon it, which was a super pleasant surprise. - RikardoMurska Sobota, Slovenia6 contributionsGood herb and drink menu, good prices, friendly staff, cosy place to chillIt was very close to our airbnb and as I read reviews online, it was the best choice for us. They have a nice menu for herbs and drinks, the staff is very friendly and the place is also very cosy. It is located in the streets with other bars and restaurants, so If you get munchies or fancy a beer after you smoke, you have plenty of options. Also you can go explore De Pijp from there.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 14, 2023

So surprised because it has a good rating. Guy who works there has a bad attitude, tries to hit on young female customers and wants to oblige you to buy weed etc. despite buying drinks. If you also have to ask for a key in order to use the toilet like in a developing country, this is just the cherry on the cake. Foreigners don’t seem to be very welcome here either, Dutch much preferred, steer clear of this place!

Lovely place a little off the beaten track. We cycled to this gem after exploring the local market. Very nice coffee, comfy seats and it’s nice and bright inside. Also lots of good chilled music playing.

After successfully finding this place and having had high hopes after reading some good write ups, I couldn't have been more disappointed. My husband and I are are both aged between 40-50 and we had heard that this was not only a locals place but also an establishment for the more mature clientele. We walked in and ordered two drinks, planning to sit outside as it was very busy inside for a rainy weds morning. The lady behind the drinks counter told me I would need to buy their "product" I alread had plenty on me and didn't need to buy any more. We left. I will not stay somewhere that insist you buy there. I visited numerous coffeeshops over the period of our three days and this was the only place that said this. Also have been visiting Amsterdam for 10 years and had never been asked to do this previously.

My boyfriend and I do smoke fairly often so knew what to expect, however found some coffeeshops intimidating. Katsu is a breath of fresh air- beautiful art, really cool and varied music and super friendly staff. The pink floyd is a must try if you're into giggley/chatty highs. The iced coffee is delicious too, our experience wouldn't have been the same without it! If youre a newbie to weed, or if you like a more mellow atmosphere, definitely try Katsu. We both found that in a few of the more popular coffeeshops, the staff appeared to be rude and unfriendly- the LAST thing you want in that situation. Not only are the staff exceptionally friendly in Katsu, but it is kind of undiscovered so you're almost always guaranteed a seat. This little gem is bound to get more popular soon, so make sure you pay a visit ASAP for a friendly and warm taste of Amsterdam culture.
**P.S. We discovered the number 3 tram stops 2 minutes away from Katsu, the stop is called Ferdinand Bolstrat and the tram goes all around the outskirts of the canal rings around the city**

Katsu is located around a 10 to 15 minute walk out of the central district and believe me, it's WORTH THE WALK!
Luckily for me I was staying in the hostel near Sarphati Park so Katsu was the closest coffeeshop to me. It was the first coffeeshop I went to and the last before I left to go home.
This coffeeshop has possibly the best and most varied selection of cannabis available in all of Amsterdam. I went about 4 times in total within the week I was there. All the staff were extremely chilled and friendly. The shop itself has a beautifully relaxed vibe with a great selection of music. The great thing about Katsu unlike the other coffeeshops is that it always seems fairly calm and quiet. In the central part the coffeeshops tend to be very noisy and extremely busy. Katsu is more locals orientated who just want to relax after a long days work. Certainly in my Top 3 selection of the best coffeeshops in Amsterdam.
If you're in Amsterdam you MUST come here! (Order a hot chocolate too they're amazing) ;)

They sell vegan (gluten free, lactose free, sugar free) weed chocolate muffins (edibles) for EUR7. They are really tasty and super strong.
Joints are also cheap (£10 for 3) but the quality of the roll is not great and paper sticks out of the filter at the bottom.
If in need of vegan edibles this is the place!

Stopped here as this shop has been highly recommended. I was told I had to buy their product.
In amh other coffee shop I have been able to just buy a drink but smoke my own bought earlier in the holiday.
As I write this I am sitting here outside the coffee shop. We fly out in a few hours and dont want to buy more 'product' before we leave.
Really disappointing.... Happily take my 5Euro for 2 drinks before telling me aboutrhis stupid rule.

Can we smoke weed with tobacco inside or is it only allowed to smoke pure weed? Also are there seatings available outside?

Your hotel is outside of the city ring of Amsterdam, the part on the map within the A10 road. However, Amsterdam is not so big and with tram and metro transportation, which is pretty good in Amsterdam it is not so far and one of the first city center parts (de Pijp) that you will encounter on the way from your hotel into the city.

Just wondering; if i buy a cake or a joint is it rude to take them with me, or should i definitely consume them on the premises? I'm not in Amsterdam for long and am keen to fit in as much sightseeing as possible without missing out on this.

Hi David,
You are not under any obligation to buy and consume in the shop. I have noticed many customers who simply buy and go consume elsewhere. It all depends if you like the vibe of the shop. If you do decide to stay, some shops may ask you to buy a drink but its not mandatory in all shops. Have fun.
or point me in right direction ill pay somebody to take me where I can get it good I need like 20 and some candy ya know
can I get E there or somewhere I need like twenty I'm coming in a few days I'll stop bye and get some coffee and chill I also need some coka cola.
What is the best way to get here from ibis style amsterdam central hotel?

Tram 16 and 24 run from Amsterdam Centraal to Albert Cuypstraat. Then it's a couple of minutes walk from there. I would suggest visiting on a weekday so you can also visit the outdoors market of Cuypstraat. You can also walk but it will take you around 35-40minutes.
Is the times in opening and closing are true? I thought in friday night until 1:00
