About
Amsterdam conjures up images of a less-than-puritan style of life, but we’re here to show you that this city offers way more than just the Red Light District – even though it’s a part of it! Our English speaking guides will help you cut the lines and explore the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, two of the city’s biggest attractions, on private or small group tours. With Babylon Tours, we’ll help you experience the historic side of Amsterdam, but we know how to let down our hair, too. Join us as well to explore the, let’s call them, alternative venues of the Red Light District with one of our energetic young guides.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and very interactive. She offered time to rest if needed, reflect on the art and was very conscious of the groups needs in general. Her telling of van Goghs starry was very compelling, much more so then I could have gathered if I were visiting by myself. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone who loves to learn and behold masterpieces.

Jackpot is an outstanding guide. Very knowledgeable. He explained the logical order of things and the progression so we could understand how it actually happened or worked. He negotiated the crowds very well and made sure we could hear him at all times. He was kind and considerate. Jacobo used textual explanations so we could understand the contexts of what was happening during the specific time. He also introduced us to architectural and language styles of the times and how they influenced the art.

During my recent visit to the Rijksmuseum, I had the pleasure of being guided by an exceptional art history expert named Brigitte Mommers. Her knowledge and passion for the subject were truly remarkable, and she made my museum experience truly unforgettable.
Brigitte's extensive understanding of art history brought the artworks to life in a way I had never experienced before. Her explanations were clear, engaging, and filled with fascinating details that enriched my understanding and appreciation for each piece. It was evident that she genuinely loves what she does, and her enthusiasm was contagious.
Beyond her expertise and outstanding communication skills, Brigitte was also incredibly personable and approachable. She created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making us feel comfortable and encouraging an open dialogue throughout the tour. Her genuine passion and friendliness made the experience all the more enjoyable.
I highly recommend Brigitte as an art history guide at the Rijksmuseum. Her expertise, engaging manner, and friendly demeanor made my visit truly exceptional. I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned from her and would eagerly join any future tours or lectures she leads. Thank you, Brigitte, for making my museum visit truly memorable!

My mother and I took the semi private Van Gogh Museum tour with Anna N. as our guide, and we had an amazing time. Anna was very knowledgeable and excited to share the most current discoveries on Van Gogh's life, misfortunes, and death, to enable us to form our own opinions, both on his fame and on the driving forces behind his art. Anna did an awesome job of navigating the crowds of the museum for our tour group to ensure we all got close views of the pieces she was delving into, and she brought supplementary materials to further tell the story of Van Gogh. Would recommend this tour!

Anna is a very engaging expert guide that lead us through two museums and kept us completely engaged into learning art and history of the Netherlands for the whole day.
Anna tells stories from multidimensional historical and economic background standpoint that puts each art or historical museum object in a living history perspective. She taught us to identify symbolism in many art pieces. We had not been able to find a question that she did not have answer to. Highly recommend!

Excellent experience!! Monique was our guide and she was lovely! She really brought Vincent’s story to life for us. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. The museum was very crowded and I’m so glad we had her to guide us through what could have been a very overwhelming experience managing the crowds.

Our Babylon Tour guide, Ewald, was an absolute god-send! He provided us with facts, tidbits and cultural context to enhance our trip to the Van Gogh Museum. He had supporting graphics that he shared from his phone to expand on what we were looking at, and engaged the 4 kids traveling with us for all 4 floors of the museum. He knew when to encourage us to take a break, and was flexible but thorough.

This was the best art tour we have ever been on and there have been many! The combined Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum tours made for a long day but the time flew because of our amazing guide Anna Nikolaeva. Anna has many years experience and has done much research into the life and times of the artists. Her descriptions of the works and the influences of the times, attitudes, and circumstances on the artists humanized them and added tremendously to our understanding of the works we viewed. This was particularly evident in viewing the grotesque Potato Eaters. When you book this tour be sure to request Anna. You will be so happy with your enhanced comprehension of the art and history!

Rijksmuseum & Van Goh Musuem Tour-semi-private 8ppl max is fantastic. I don't fancy paintings but tour guide, Anna Nikkolaeva, has make it so interesting by narrating the stories of painters so that we can relate and appreciate the differences and styles of paintings. She brings out the essence of each paintings. It will be boring if without Anna & it's worth visiting both museums for different experiences. It's worth the experience.

Wonderful full day of amazing artworks! We started with Rijksmuseum. Those Rembrandt's and other pieces were stunning to say least and our guide Victoria gave us so much information about them.

Then the Van Gogh Museum followed after a lunch break. Seeing some of his early works were much different than his later more recognizable style. Lots more colors in his later paintings.

Having a semiprivate tour was well worth it. There were only 3 of for the Rijksmuseum, then 5 joined us for Van Gogh. Victoria shared with us her knowledge and the tour was more intimate with a small group. I highly recommend booking this tour! Thank you for a wonderful day.
