My partner and I really enjoyed our trip to this museum. The audio guide is well worth the extra money. A really interesting and fun insight, but also a serious message

Located in the Red light district itself this museum gives a real true understanding of life in prostitution and a sense of how the women are treated and feel!! Lots of photo opportunities and the staff were really helpful and friendly! A must see!!

Very interesting to look around but I would have liked more. It barely took 40 mins to see everything. We particularly enjoyed posing in the window...much to the amusement of passers by.

We visited the museum with reduced tickets from the tour shops and enjoyed the experience. It showed the other side of the women that work in the red light district and made them seem less of an attraction and more of professional women which was a very positive outlook. Around 10 rooms in the museum with different facts (you can... More

Title says it all, very average attraction but st the same time it's very interesting. When I say average I mean that it is very good to go and see if you have the time but it's not a must to do if your only in the city for a few days.

This museum is fantastic - a genuinely informative, balanced and respectful insight into life in the red light district. It's actually set in an old brothel, allowing you to sit in a red light window and see what the rooms the girls work in are like. It also strikes the balance between interesting and entertaining, but still giving loads of... More

When we visited it was very hot outside - which meant it was extremely hot inside!! There is no AC so be prepared! I recommend the audio tour, I can remember the narrator's name but she was really funny. This was a very interesting museum however I think €10 is a bit much to get in.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
