Neighborhood: Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.

Was very awkward when it first started nobody knew where to look. But i think its a must do in Amsterdam. Recommend going with a group. One of the acts looked bored shitless but by the last act we were all cracking up.

Me and 'the wife' chose this out of the few options that were on offer. The atmosphere was crowded (in a bad way) and after a few acts everyone had to leave as it was the end of the show. We complained we had only seen a few acts and were allowed to stay for the next show. It transpired that we had seen the whole show, which was only 4 acts. There was almost nothing erotic about the show. Sometimes it was entertaining, especially when a chap called Alan was ushered up to the stage as part of the terribly tame audience participation.
To sum it up, you pay €35 (so €70) as a couple, for the chance to sit next to a desperate adolescent who's hand kept disappearing down his trousers, to watch 4 or maybe 5 'acts' only one of which could be described as s£x , and then only when the guy finally managed to ' get it up'.
We would have happily paid €10 each for 20 mins (as that's all it was) of light hearted comedy. €35 euros each is utterly taking the pi$$ for this poor excuse of an attempt.
Our advice would be : if you want to see what the show promises then stay in your hotel, order room service and watch yourselves in the mirror. It will be cheaper, more fun and definitely better to watch.

Overall, had a great hour or so here. Went with girlfriend with no expectations of what it would be like. Fortunately it wasn't full of seedy men fiddling with themselves, it was mainly full of friends and couples wanting a laugh. The performances were... 'good' but I'm not sure exactly how I am scoring this. It was a few couples having sex on stage in various positions, and then solo performers dancing, pole dancing and inserting or removing items from orifices...
It was never going to be serious show, and turned a bit cringe when they started playing slow love ballads during the couples act. Personally, it felt a little uncomfortable. I would have preferred the Benny Hill theme to inject a bit of humour.
The best show was the ribbon show... I won't ruin the surprise but it raises more questions than answers.
I have taken a star off due to pricing. Entry with two free drinks is €40 and without is €30... The two free drinks (for me anyway) were two half pints of, not great Budweiser. Without the use of a degree in Mathematics, I conclude that they value a half pint of tepid Budweiser at €5 each... However they are €3 to buy on their own.
Take my advice and pay the lower entry price and pay for your drinks in there...

Bad experience! Paid €80 for two people and the show was cramped and uncomfortable. The bar manager was yelling aggressively at staff and customers inbetween sets. The show was lifeless with a poor routine. No hate towards the workers and dancers, but that much money for a (literally) anti-climatic ending… it begs for atmosphere of any kind. Do not go if you are wanting more than just a story to tell friends.

The security person in front on 6/ June/2022 at around 11 pm was horrible. I was asking about show time, like how long is the show. He showed me with his hand the big of the strippers penis. Plus there was no seat for us. I called my credit Compnay and they returned 80 euros back for two people.

This was a great laugh. Went with a group of friends and was initially a bit apprehensive about the price (e40 with a drink), but very glad we went as it was certainly worth it and a very "Amsterdam" experience.
I thought it would be a tamed-down tourist trap, but it was pretty graphic, and the audience participation was pretty hilarious.

The Moulin Rouge adult show ? Do we don't we !
Well myself and my wife did and apart from the nudity and live --- acts it was incredible. Not just people going at it hammer and tong it was choriographed and entertaining and even audience participation. This included me who had to get on stage and eat bananas from a large african ladies nether regions. Funny i split my sides. Take the option of paying extra and getting the free drinks although it is only four free drinks they are not watered down.
Anyway if you want to see before you go visit the website Moulin rouge amsterdam for a cartoon of the live shows again very witty. Do not be put off by thinking it is full of dirty old men in the audience on our visit was only one such person the resr were mainly couples of all ages (including gay male and female couples) so give it a go nothing dirty, nothing seedy but try and get a front row seat, next to the action and next to the bar.
Hope you enjoy visiting if you enjoy write a reveiw yourself and remember don't be prudish enjoy life, you may actually enjoy it .

We paid €35 and got a free drink. We were taken to the nearest seats (bad view) on the side of the stage not around the bar. First act was a couple who had 'sex' to the rhythm of Rammstein! Not a very sexy song! Very fake but again very funny! 2nd act was a girl with a pen, who drew 'BAD BOY' on someone's chest with her hoo hoo. 3rd act was struggling to find someone to get up with her so me and a 2 girls got up. We danced with her and then she unleashed a banana. We all in turn had to get on all 4's and take a bite of the banana. 4th act was a lady pulling ribbon out and wrapping a gent up in it.
Was only in an hour as only 4 acts on, worth a laugh!

'When in Rome'.... Or Dam as this case maybe, we decided to go and watch a Sex Show. We opted for the Moulin Rouge... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
When the second act couldn't tempt one member of the room to a free lap dance that is saying something. In the heart of the red light district, in a venue full of people who have PAID to see a sex show, a room with a hand full of stag parties - no one wanted to get up there. Honestly, from start to finish this was a low budget, cheap feeling, uncomfortable viewing.
Ooh, and the waitress... what a delight and well mannered person. NOT - so unaccommodating. Maybe she was just having a bad day but she was rude.

Hi,
Just had few queries. Will be thankful if anyone can answer the same.
Why there is so much difference in ticket price of Moulin Rouge(30 Euros) vs Cassa Rosso (45 euros) ? Which one is advisable to go ?
Thanks in advance.

We visited Casa Rossa after a recommendation but in all honesty both sound pretty much the same. Both have crowds paying to go in. We intend to visit moulin Rouge when we return in March.

How do I buy a ticket for the live sex show at Moulin Rpuge? The website doesn't sell them and they aren't answering. We are only here for one night and don't want to miss out. Also at what time is the show or shows? Please help 🙏 thanks.

We (me, my wife and another couple) but probably just me and my wife want to experience the red light district, are hoping to visit in October 2017, is moulin rouge wheelchair friendly, or at least somewhere to store a wheelchair, but with not many stairs( if moulin rouge is not very mobility friendly can anyone suggest somewhere which is) what sort of £/€ am I expected to spend (getting in & drinks) for a few hrs in this club? Can you pay on the door or is it advanced tickets, we haven't been in a sex club before, is it suitable for couples, is it a good places for first timers
Kirsten A
Croydon, UK55 contributions
This place is definitely for first timers and couples! I went as a couple. You pay on the door. Watching all of the shows many only take an hour or so. But you can stay and watch the shows repeat again. So there are steps. A few to first get in. Then about maybe 8 more down. I didn't see any wheelchair ramps or access. But there would be a few spots you could sit a wheel chair in. But bare in mind this is a small venue. You can buy the entrance with one or two drink. I think it may have been €40 pp. Amsterdam is just like London prices 😢
