Had a beer, sat outside and got a flavor of the area and the locals. Lots of different types that would please most anyone. A very nice way to spend a beautiful afternoon!

Quality Beer, avoid tour it is not really where they brew the Beer anymore. The Taster is GREAT. This is in a old neighborhood and as we walked back to get Tram as we call it we spotted an old Brick Building with outside patio, my son said lets get a drink I did a pit stop and her ordered... More

Great beer, great food and the most efficient staff possible. And very friendly. Highly recommended, the chips/fries alone deserve 5* The waitress was very knowledgeable about their beer, and the home brew was excellent.

Have been to this place a number of times and each time it has been great. The beer was excellent, as a non beer drinker I loved ijwig, was delicious and light! This bar has a nice environment and it's in a windmill, what more do you want!

This is definitely one of my favourite beer in Europe, after Guinness, it is a must go even if you don't like beer just to learn more about dutch culture, it would be even better to go in weekdays as not many people herd to the place, also would recommend to order the beer tasting so you find out which... We stopped here for a taste of local beer after seeing the windmill. The place was packed with people but the atmosphere was very nice. I asked the barman to serve me a nice local beer since I did not know any of the brands. No idea what I got but it was very good. Would recommend!

A brewery in a windmill - does it get better than that? We had an absolute blast here. The beer was delicious and you get to sit outside underneath a beautiful, traditional windmill. Great place!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
