Recently, the genuine YAB YUM feeling is brought back to life. YAB YUM Unlocked is a wonderful exhibition and a 'Real Life Club Experience' at the same time. YAB YUM Unlocked takes you back to the years during which YAB YUM was famous all over the world. How it all came about, who visited and why was the club so popular? You'll visit the luxurious bar and famous 'caviar room', you'll see how founder Theo Heuft ever got the idea and how the club became one of the biggest status symbols for straight arrows and hoodlums alike. It also takes you behind the scenes of this well-organized company, a booming enterprise with an annual turnover of millions.

This is not as well publicised as other attractions. Out of all the sights like this - sex museum, erotic museum etc, this was by far the best and interesting.
It's 15 euros, so more than other places, but worth it. It was a prestigious gentleman's club and entertained famous and powerful men. You get to see the house as it was before it was shut down - videos & recordings guide you round and explain how things worked, how much it cost and its history. Really enjoyed seeing what men did behind these closed doors. We also got to meet the man who ran it for decades who could not have been more helpful, told us lots of anecdotes and was genuinely pleased to spend time with us.

On our last trip to the Dam we came upon this on TripAdvisor. I have always been fascinated with high end brothels and what they were like in their heyday. Wow, I was so not disappointed with this, we had the entire place to ourselves when we went. The entrance foyer was exactly as I had imagined and the high rollers bar was beautiful, awesome interior downstairs. The whole set-up of the brothel was amazing to see, the stories of what went on there, WOW!!! After being here we then went to the Museum of Prostitution just to see the difference in working conditions in a "red light" house. If I had to, I know where I would've rathered work, Yab Yum!!!!!

A really amazing place, it was a brothel (although Gentleman's Club is more accurate ) until 2008. It was shut down but it has been left as it was then. It is not sleazy or tacky in any way and it gives a real insight into what the very rich spend their money on. A real education !!

Closed down (for now) due to suspected gang ties, this once opulent brothel has opened its doors to the general public for a peek inside.

Famous for being a place of - um - entertainment for high-rolling business men, mobsters and movie stars, Yab Yum stands in stark contrast to the red light district's world of quikies in cupboard-sized rooms.

What makes this museum especially genuine is that the club's former manager conducts the tour - in a very discreet and professional manner and without letting slip any secrets, of course.

Grab a leaflet from most hotels to get 25% off the entry price.

Make sure you also visit the Red Light Secrets Museum to get a more balanced view of the sex trade - and to realise that the gold-leaf-and-pleather interior of Yab Yum may look tacky compared to what you usually associate with something "high end", but is positively luxurious when compared to the rooms behind the red lights :-/.

If you love historical and mysterious places that's the place for you. You get to see the luxury life of the escorts and the rich clients. A bit expensive but I believe it was worth it.

Had a great trip round Yab Yum. The host Mitch could not of been more helpful, with some great anecdotes. The place has been preserved perfectly, with a narrative from a former girl. Well worth a visit.

I loved this museum. The history behind it is very interesting, especially when you consider that it was conducting business as recently as 2008. Not only can you see the brothel, but you also get to see what its like to be a customer with their virtual walkthrough.

Yab Yum is a brilliant museum and a must visit when in Amsterdam! Mitch who was the manager for 20+ years is superb and needless to say fantastically knowledgeable! The building is exactly as it was in the days when the brothel was open with the rooms, bar, reception etc remaining true to its former glory days. There are informative videos in various rooms and I can't recommend this museum enough!

We really weren't too sure what to expect from Yab Yum, but we were so glad we decided to take a look inside.

As far as Brothels go, this place would have been as good as it could get. The decor was amazing with no expense spared. There was a very 'Elite' feel to the place and you clearly needed deep pockets if you had intended on being a 'client'.

Yab Yum spans several floors of this very innocent looking town house, with its only defining feature being the big green lantern outside. If stairs are a problem for you, then this attraction should be avoided, though you'll be missing out on a great experience.

The 'Guest' rooms upstairs, 2 on each floor, are all lavishly decorated. A video presentation loops in each of them, one in Dutch and the other in English. They tell the story of how Yab Yum came to be and about its recent demise. It's certainly a place you don't get to visit - as a tourist - in every town you see.

We really loved it here. It didn't look as though it were open when we arrived, but a lady appeared in the window below the stairs - I know, how cliché - and let us in through the main door. If there's no one around when you arrive, knock and be patient. She was happy to chat with us inside about Yab Yums history, so she could be doing the same for others when you arrive.

My wife would have loved a pair of Yab Yum slippers, part of the display of all the Yab Yum eccentricities. Shame there was no gift shop.

If you get the chance, go visit whilst you can. They may resolve their 'Licence Issues' and reopen one day, which could make your next visit far more expensive and harder to justify :-)

We went here twice at different times and days and during their opening hours but it was not open and no sign letting you know why they were closed.
