This place was and still is my favorite hangout in Amsterdam. As a student I spent many evenings here hanging out with my friends and it is still my favorite place to meet friends when I'm in Amsterdam. They have a great beer selection, with many beers on tap, and the atmosphere is great. One thing I have noticed over... More

Good beer, nice glasses and service; and a lovely authentic street to enjoy your beverage on. They allow you to try the beer for free to see what you would like to go for.

So nice to go to a pub in Amsterdam and be able successfully avoid a Heineken product. Great selections of beer and expert bar staff. I found the atmosphere to be quite welcoming. Very quaint decor, plenty of room, and lively conversations happening all around me. It felt like an oasis from the bustle of the rest of nearby Amsterdam... More

Late afternoon stop on a beautiful Spring day. Did we catch the servers on a bad day or are they routinely wise guys? Is this meant to be a feature, not a bug? Anyway, if you want an excellent beer, this is an excellent choice. Multiple, well-priced drafts were available. Would return if for no other reason than the beer... More

The beer menu is excellent. The service is friendly and welcoming, and very eager to help you with your choice of drink. The pricing is appropriate. The only negative remark I have is, that the place can hardly qualify as cozy. It is rather dark, and even a bit cold. The excellent selection of drinks mostly makes up for it,... More

Found this pub by mistake, what a great find. It has so many beers to choose from, from real ale to craft beer to Belgium beer. It has a very old and traditional feel to the pub. There are many old pubs around Amsterdam, you just have to look for them.

I have been to Wildeman before on a few occasions and I have always enjoyed my time there. They have a nice beer selection as well as many spirits. It is always full of people but not so full you feel like you can't relax. I have always found the service to be excellent but this last visit the service... More

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
