De Saloon

De Saloon, Amsterdam: Address, Phone Number, De Saloon Reviews: 4/5

The area
Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast, waiter was very friendly. Sat outside in the sun by the canal. Food was average but nice enough, bit overpriced at €12 for a croissant, cheese, ham and a coffee.

We were fortunate to have good weather so could sit out in the sun and have breakfast. Great coffee and orange juice, good service. Food not to bad either.

After being to the museum district, we headed out looking for a place for lunch. The patio area looked appealing with tables and tulips, but it was chilly out so we ate in. Casual dining, fun pillows on the benches. Waiter was attentive and helped us select our meal. Everything we ate was delicious, but I have to say that was the largest piece of goat cheese I’ve ever eaten!!! Sandwiches were around 8 Euros and hot lattes 3.5-4.5 Euros.

No waiter came to pick up our order for about half an hour, and it took at least another half an hour to bring us a panini and some almost cold fries.
Poor service, excuse always was "I'm sorry, but it's very busy today", as if that's not what they wanted...

Very affordable cafe serving breakfast, paninis, and salads. I had the Serrano ham and manchego cheese panini which was delicious and less than 8 Euro. My friend had the spicy chicken panini and lived hers as well. Friendly waiter and staff.

We had 2 cokes outside, first the waiter lasted 10 minutes in asking us what we wanted to drink, then of course, another 10 minutes to bring 2 cokes, but the worst was when we asked for the bill, as they charged 5€ each when the menu stated 3€ each, they said we order a medium one... besides the coke was not opened in front of us, it had no pressure and it was most likely served directly from a 2L bottle.

Wow! Just wow!

All we did was stop in for a quick drink and a snack before our dinner!!
We ended up staying for a while and had a variety of locally brewed beers including an IPA, a Belgian style triple and some blonde and brown craft beer!

The server was incredibly welcoming and the interior was just all mew and fresh! Nice Place that will just make you smile!

My favorite was the Bullebak Triple from the bottle!

Love this place and will come back for more!

Cheers and thank you for welcoming us! 🍺 ❤🇳🇱

Total dive bar with great vibe. If you are looking for love in a bowl of candy hearts... This is your dive bar! Not sure what else to say to make up the 100 character limit.....

I went to try to have dinner, was late so I asked if they still were serving, and the answer was a yes. So we went to a table and the waiter never attended (he was all the time on his cellphone doing nothing!), so we had to stand up 10 minutes later and ask for service, and their answer of the two guys that were on service was: sorry, we are closed. We explained that we were waiting for service and tha fact that we asked before, but they simple answer: sorry, we are closed. Bad Service, unpersonal, un warm. Very bad. Hope this can help you to improve.

We enjoyed stopping here for a relaxed meal.

There is plenty of outside seating as well as a smaller indoor space. Best for groups of 5 or less given the smaller table size.

The Dutch pancake was a bit plain but the saloon burger was large and delicious. Breakfast and lunch is served until 6 PM when a dinner menu kicks in.

The staff was warm and friendly.

Pricing was a bit high but not outrageously so given the relaxed mood and good people watching.

It is a great way to enjoy a sunny afternoon.
