How do we give a 10 out of 5! My wife is gluten free and vegan and Ester-Hanna “spoiled” her beyond required with special “treats” just for her specific dietary needs. She stopped at Petit by Sam (local gluten free bakery) and purchased ahead of time numerous items that she could have when the selected restaurant didn’t have anything for my wife. Wow! This is special treatment. Additionally, all of the food stops were outstanding and Ester-Hanna had a special “behind the curtain” story about each. We could have NEVER reproduced this type of detail even if we had a list of the restaurants. Would recommend in a heartbeat if visiting Amsterdam and will definitely book another tour on our next visit to the city.

We were looking for a private food tour as a little team-building event during a business trip and are really, really happy that we stumbled upon Hungry Birds!

Their team created a private tour for us, which was perfectly adapted to all our individual restraints (timing, dietary restrictions, etc.).
Our little group was accompanied the whole evening by two lovely ladies, who showed us around the city and shared stories about the local culture, all while making us taste amazing local food (and drinks). It was the perfect way to discover this stunning city in a new way.

We had a great time and would highly recommend Hungry Birds to anyone!

We booked a Street Foods tour with Hungry Birds. Esther- Hanna was our “Mother Bird”. I find that a country’s food says much and it is even better when you walk in neighborhoods. That was the case with our tour. We had 5 birds. One from Germany, 2 from Italy and 3 Americans. The group was very good and spanned ages young & old. We all had the same goal of sharing food, good conversation, a welcoming feeling and inspiring storytelling in Amsterdam. The whole tour was in English. We had food from the Netherlands including from Netherland colonies. Each place we stopped had a story. We ate through the De Pijp, Markt Terrein, and a couple other neighborhoods. We ate at: Tjin’s; FEBO; Toko Ramee; Sonny; Volendammer Vishandel; Poffertjes Albert; Rudi’s Stroopwafels; Ranchi; Hartog’s Bakery; Cafe Jlijterij Oosterling (Brown Bar established in 1877); and ended with De Eeuwige Jeugd (a newer craft beer place). We also stopped at three historic sculptures one at the Markt and 2 at a beautiful park and a garage door mural depicting the former mayor of Amsterdam a young bicyclist. I would highly recommend this tour. Yum😋

What an excellent food tour. Anne was a fantastic guide and really helped showcase some of Amsterdam's best! Loved all the stops and background on each of the locations. Would highly recommend this tour group to anyone who wants a dose of history, lots of delicious eats, and fun social time with other visitors. We were PLENTY full by the end of it too!

We had a great time with our tour guide, Charmaine! It was a rainy morning and she was able to rearrange things to make everyone comfortable. ALL of the food was very good, too, which isn't always guaranteed on a food tour. She even took us for a nice walk through a park. The neighborhood we were in, De Pijp, was really fun and had lots of cool places.

I booked this tour because it was my first time in Amsterdam and I wanted to learn about the food culture. I have done many food tours and I have to say this is one of the best. Anne was an excellent guide and we sampled quite a few local specialties. Anee was knowledgeable about the city and culture as well as the food. This was a really fun intro to the city, but remember to come hungry, because there is a lot of food. All in all a great day trip.

So good points - felt like this was a good value food tour, plenty of stops and we actually went back to 2 of the places on the tour to have lunch the following day. Also everywhere we went had a story and was family run which was lovely.
Slightly too much sugary food for my liking however (but that’s definitely a taste thing).
My husband is also dairy intolerant (which I did let them know about before). They did try really hard to accommodate this but were slightly hampered by lack of allergen listing at most places. Completely not their fault and my husband was fine but would have been far more wary if it was a true allergy.

I decided to travel solo to Amsterdam for my birthday this year and could not thank Zosia enough for her hospitality, professionalism and for being just an all round genuine kind soul. Hungry birds tour was 100% my highlight in Amsterdam and would recommend this amazing experience to anyone. Zosia was not only knowledgeable with the food experience but also gave great insight of the city history. Even just the relationships she has with the locals what incredible to witness. When I do revisit Amsterdam, I will certainly be booking another tour. Thanks again Hungry Birds, and especially to you Zosia. Kind Regards Jasmine Cassells x

Wow! What a fun day. Lots of culinary surprises. I don't want to give away any specifics, but be prepared to taste a great variety of foods.

Charmaine did a great job giving us background on all the places we stopped and the foods we tasted.

I highly recommend this tour, I have been to Amsterdam a few times, and I enjoy local food, but this tour gave me insights to all sorts of new and interesting foods. You should take this tour early in your trip, it is an eye opener.

My husband and I participated in a noon “original experience” tour with Esther-Hanna on a Saturday. She provided a fabulous introduction to De Pijp neighborhood and we had a lot of special bites to eat highlighting the Albert Cuyp market, Sarphati Park and a few other areas of town. We felt a really personal connection with her and the seven other participants who came from Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Israel (in addition to the US), and it was really fun. Highly recommend.
